They are 21-6. We are 21-8. Wow. We prolly won't be ranked. Its amazing how much the tables have turned for us.

That one first place vote probably came from a UNC crackaddict coach.... Who are the voters this year anyway??

i mean, i understand that you guys hate UNC, and i do as well.

BUT, if you've watched any of their games lately, you would see that right now, they are playing as well, if not better, then any other team in the nation. it pains me to say it, but its true.

the way we are playing right now, we dont deserve to be in the top 25. UNC without a doubt is playing like a top 10 team.

i agree with you brad, but a #1 vote
that's a bit extreme

I'm amazed we're at #22

UNC deserves the 10-spot...but a #1 vote? Naaaahhhh...

That's the whole reason I posted this. It had nothing to do with their spot in the polls. It was the number 1 vote that got me. I know they're playing great. If we had ref support like Hansbrough does, we'd be chicken-winging and walking over every opponent too.

their #1 vote shows just how much of a lopsided playing field we have with UNC

i dont think their #1 vote had anything to do with us losing twice to them this year.

so you think they deserved a #1 vote then

cause all im saying is that if State had beaten UVA and Duke last week, we wouldnt have gone up past 11th in the polls

there is no chance in hell that they deserve a number 1 vote, that coach should be castrated.

I'm just trying to call attention to what seems to be a growing cancer which is the UNC bias in all forms of media. Even the coaches poll isn't immune.

no question they should be in the top 10, but giving them a first place vote is like that idiot did in the preseason football poll when he voted Louisville no.1. Fuckin idiots, if you are going to have a poll or rankings, at least try to make it realistic.

i never said that. dont put words in my mouth.

i said that the #1 vote has nothing to do with a lopsided playing field.

1. we werent #15
2. they beat uVa by almost 50.
3. they beat duke at duke...and looked very impressive doing so.
4. number #11 lost and #12-#14 didnt do anything that warented moving up.

if we were #15 and had the same kind of week, then yes, i think we would have moved into the top 10.

no one is crying at all, we are all discussing how there is no chance in hell a 21-6 team is deserving of a number 1 vote

[Edited on March 6, 2006 at 2:12 PM. Reason : and the only team in the country that would get that handed to them is UNC]

Beat your both your rivals by a resounding margin.

One of which is ranked #1.

While blowing the living hell out of everyone in between.

NOPE

DONT SEE HOW THEY COULD GET A NUMBER ONE VOTE AT ALL

Like there's really no point to even arguing this.

In fact, I don't really even care what UNC is ranked.

The day we blow them out and then go beat Duke, at Duke, on senior night, after a loss, and then make sure we wipe the floor with everyone in between.

And not get some sort of poll love

Is the day I might honestly care.

im trying to explain to sandsanta that unc gets a little more national love than state...not just from winning either

boy they raped duke by like 30 points, right?

hey how come they didnt rank them 5th or 4th or something if they rape so many people

I'm trying explain to treetwistah the results of being mediocre contrasted with the results of being the former national champion, expected to super shitty, and then coming up second in the ACC.

dude

nobody is really arguing with their 10th rank in each poll

its just that everybody has 9 teams ahead of them

yet 8 of those teams dont get a 1st place vote

its not that hard to see

The point is that these polls are obviously infiltrated with non-college graduates who do not realize that there are at least 8 teams better than UNC right now.

Quote :
" Connecticut (30) 27-2
Villanova 24-3
Gonzaga 26-3
Memphis 27-3
George Washington 26-1
Ohio State 23-4
Texas 25-5
Illinois 25-5

North Carolina (1) 21-6
"

Giving them a #1 vote is the equivalent of giving the gold medal to someone who finished eighth. I believe if the voters had to reveal themselves and their votes each week it would be more consistent and more HONORABLE. The #1 vote for UNC takes away credibility from the ESPN Coaches poll. Also, I lost a little bit of respect for each of the voters. I would have lost a lot of respect for the particular voter, but since they cower behind a cloak of anonymity they all get a little less respect.

And the voters are?? [quote]The USA TODAY/ESPN Board of Coaches is made up of 31 Division I head coaches. All are members of the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The 2003-04 board: Dana Altman, Creighton; Tevester Anderson, Jackson State; Eddie Biedenbach, North Carolina-Asheville; Jim Boeheim, Syracuse; Barry Collier, Nebraska; Charlie Coles, Miami (OH); Dick Davey, Santa Clara; Fran Dunphy, Pennsylvania; Mick Durham, Montana State; Rob Evans, Arizona State; Steve Fisher, San Diego State; Pat Flannery, Bucknell; Greg Graham, Boise State; Tom Green, Fairleigh Dickinson; David Henderson, Delaware; Bob Huggins, Cincinnati; Gene Keady, Purdue; Johnny Jones, North Texas; Eddie McCarter, Texas-Arlington; Bob McKillop, Davidson; Phil Martelli, Saint Joseph's; Joe Mihalich, Niagara; Ronald "Fang" Mitchell, Coppin State; Dave Odom, South Carolina; Rick Samuels, Eastern Illinois; Kirk Speraw, Central Florida; Bob Thomason, Pacific; Perry Watson, Detroit Mercy; Gary Williams, Maryland; Dennis Wolff, Boston University; Rich Zvosec, Missouri-Kansas City.

This isn't a guess. He said to the paper he would never vote UConn #1 after Boone and Gay didn't stay home..
