The 2006 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) will release its bracket live simultaneously on ESPNU, ESPNNews, http://www.nit.org and http://www.ncaasports.com at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2006.
The NIT, which for the first time will be selected by an at-large committee, will be comprised of a 40-team field from across the country. This year also marks the first time in the 69-year history of the NIT that the bracket release will be televised live.
Do you think they'll have teams sitting around like the NCAA Tourney Selection Show wondering if they'll get in? 3/12/2006 7:25:59 PM |

NIT BRACKET:

Some odd seeding going on...look at Clemson & UVA...um?
Ah well, some ACC team should run amok. What's sad is that our ACC "powerhouse league" is sending more teams to the NIT than the NCAA's this year. We need some work. Also, it's really gay they put some/most of the NIT matchups on the same night as some 1st-round NCAA games. I'd rather watch some of these NIT games than games like Duke/Southern.

my brother called me from halton arena last night to say uncc beat up on georgia southern or georgia state or something in the first round - he was way too excited about this, but that's not the point
now they get cincinnati, whom they don't get a chance to play anymore in the regular season after developing a pretty healthy rivalry
tell me the nit selection committee doesnt have a sense of humor either

'75, the year after we won the NC. The decision was made in the locker room immediately following a heartbreaking loss in the ACC title game.
