GW got an 8 seed. I think they did fine. Air Force and Utah State should not have gotten in. Put FSU and Michigan over those two and its fine. 3/12/2006 7:20:34 PM |

^^No way....
Giving that many high seeds to lesser conferences and snubbing the power conferences is absolutely a joke.
Then again, if NCAA history had anyhting to do with it, the NCAA tournament would consist of Kentucky, the Big East, UCLA, and the ACC

Those are the only two power conference teams that should have a beef. Cincy SHOULD have gotten in over either. FSU played too weak a schedule and Michigan finished worse than we did. 3/12/2006 7:36:02 PM |

i agree teams shouldn't be selected based on what conference they play in. The ACC was weak this year, plain and simple. The conference got the teams that deserved to go, period. 3/12/2006 7:39:14 PM |

Aww cmon. The ACC was down... but you put one of these Davidsons and such in the ACC... let them play UNC, Duke, NC State, BC, Maryland, GT, etc.etc twice a year and see how they do.
I'm not saying they shouldn't get in.... but to get such high seeds?3/12/2006 7:41:30 PM |

I seem to remember people thinking placing Virginia Tech that only had a brief history in Big East basketball and Miami with a new coach, would be walkovers in the mighty ACC and look what happened. 3/12/2006 7:44:01 PM |

If you fired the selection committee now, after they had such a great year last year, who else would ever want to serve on the committee ever again? 3/12/2006 7:45:29 PM |

Big East and ACC conversions are two different stories.
We're talking mid-majors with higher seedings than teams who finished 4th or 5th in a power conference 3/12/2006 7:46:00 PM |

One of your arguments against Herb Packbacker is that the ACC was really down this year and the only reason we finished 2nd two years ago and 4th this year and now you are saying we deserve more bids? 3/12/2006 7:50:12 PM |

Maybe you missed my point by mentioning Virginia Tech and understanding their histroy. You said what would happen when the Davidson's were placed in the ACC. Prior to the 2000-2001 seaon V. Tech had stint in the Atlantic 10 and before that the Metro confernece. So they are an example of a mid-major team moving their way up to being to play with the big boys. If that team could do it, I am sure other mid-majors could do it too.

The ACC is down this year
That doesn't erase the fact that the ACC has won roughly 1/3 of the National Championships in the last 30 years while these other conferences have done nothing.
Like I said, let them in... but this year they were really over-seeded3/12/2006 7:55:28 PM |

If the goal of the selection commitee is to be perfectly fair, it will always fail.
If the goal is to set up a great tournament...we'll have to wait and see. 3/12/2006 8:03:05 PM |

I usually bitch at some of the selections the committee has made in the past...but I've never seen so many mistakes...mainly in the seedings.
I mean good lord...this is horrible. 3/12/2006 8:05:40 PM |
