I would rather miss it a year and make the final 4 every now and then. s16 was nice and all, but gettig out of the 1st weekend is not a great accomplishment when you had 5 chances.

if he's saying what i think he's saying....

in the last 4 years in a row that we've made it, we only lost once in the first round. we lost 3 times by a total of 7 points. and twice the team that beat us only got knocked out by the national champion.

its heartbreaking for a fan, yeah, but how is that so fucking bad???

2002 - 2nd round, lost to UConn (3 points)
2003 - 1st round, California (2 points)
2004 - 2nd round, Vanderbilt (2 points) (lost to champion UConn)
2005 - Sweet 16, Wisconsin - (lost to champion UNC)

we've been spoiled...
nc state fans believe that you can make the final four once every few years without consistently making the tournament because it's happened once before...
if you want to be in the final four, you have to spend the time in the early rounds...

We think just because Duke and UNC have won a few National Championships since we last won one, that we should be due. But we're really not. We don't have the talent that those team had and that those teams have now. We need to consistently get into the tournament and win a few games and we'll start getting better recruits(has been happening last couple of years).

If we make the tournament and lose first round, we bitch because we don't get far enough.
If we make the tournament and lose in the Sweet 16, we bitch because we could have gone farther.
If we don't make the tournament, we bitch that we should have at least made the tournament.

Our fans will never be satisfied till we have something to hold over the heads of the UNC and Duke fans.

I'd be happy with a Sweet 16 with the way we've been playing and with the talent we have. A National Championship/Final Four just isn't going to happen regardless of who is coaching here with the talent we have and the injuries we've had.

With that being said, let's GO PACK, whip that Cal ass.

comparing herb to les is like comparing Jordan to that autistic kid

i generally support herb but if recruiting is the only stone you are walking on, i disagree. i'm confident another coach could recruit as well as herb, maybe not better, but as well.

and btw, les robinson had more lottery picks than herb

a few things as i know that this has been discussed 10gazillion times.

-The one-sided rivalry also exists with Duke-UNC over the last 15-20 years. Duke has owned carolina, beating them like 19 of the past 21 times, and leading the series over the last 15-20 years much like unc has owned us.
-It (Duke-UNC) is only a bigger rivalry in basketball. Football is definately State-UNC as the bigger rivalry for much of the same reason that Duke-UNC basketball rivalry has grown over the last few years, Duke is horrible in football over the last 10-15 years, much like we have been in basketball since the 80's.
-UNC definately gives a fuck about UNC, just listen to anytime that Roy Williams refers to us. That man has hatred for the red and white.
