Is this following the tradition of Mike Piazza & Todd Zeile?

Anyway, we're playing at 11 at the upper Pullen field.

Anyone who wants to join the team can do so by showing up.

I agree that mets fans can play some serious defense, is this for fun, or is this a league? I'd like to come play one day, how serious do you guys take this? like do you have equipment for the catchers and hitters and stuff?

^^it's for a fall league, we are just getting things together now, so even if you aren't sure you want to play this fall, just come on out.

We have A helmet and catchers gear, hopefully we can get another helmet or two as time goes on.

801 High House Road

From campus go out Western until it turns into Chatham Rd.. Take it through dowtown Cary.. Take a right on High House Rd. It's like 1.5 miles just past the Maynard Rd intersection on the left..

There are 8 fields (5 softball and 3 baseball).. The long baseball field is.. I think field 7 but I could be wrong on that..

(it's not ALL that close to campus but the fields are very well maintained and if people live out in Cary or RTP/Durham it's convenient..)

I live out in RTP so I'm happy! Plus, since I bunt for homeruns (due to all the power in the guns) I want a bigger field.

ha ! love it touche`

if my glove comes in this week. I'll come out this weekend, if not count me in for next week, it should be here by then.

I believe 5 is the big field. 6 is the ~300 field and 7 is the little kids field. I could have 5 and 7 backwards, but they're all right next to eachother. just come into bond park and take a right after the senior center...

follow the road to the end to the parking lot. the big field is up to the left of field 6 after you take the path over the little creek thing.

the only problem with that bucket from Dicks is they're rubber balls ... I mean they're good enough to hit in a pench, but they're pretty bootleg. not saying dont get one, but that's what you're getting

I'm thinking about getting a bucket to hit in the cages they have there.

the bucket of balls i have is about 1/2 gone (lost) so we will need to get something soon.

We need to try and avoid the plastic balls, we've seen how lopsided those can be. But it needs to be cheap, b/c we will continue to lose and abuse them. But we are def. going to need some more in the upcoming weeks. Once we get everyone together maybe factor it into dues or what not $5-$10 a person would probaly do.

btw, are synthetic leather balls the ones we beat up so bad? I think they were... but not sure.

Leather balls run about $30 a dozen.

oh another thing . I wanted to mention this when I saw ya'llt alking about bond park the first time but I forgot.

Make sure you check with town of Cary about what times games are going on before ya'll schedule something.

I know last saturday I was coaching a practice from 9:30-11:30 and there were 2 2 hour practices after mine on the ~300 field. There was a practice during mine on the upper field as well as one starting when I left, so if ya'll had ended up coming. A town of Cary team would have had the field resereved. probably could have hit in the cages or something if the coach wasn't using it I guess.

just something to think baout when scheduling this stuff

Yeah, I'll give them a call tomorrow. We definitely need a bigger field though.

I didn't know the bucket of balls were the cheap rubber ones. We don't need to get those. I mean, one swing from my massive reportoire would destroy it.

I'll look on ebay as well.

If we have 20 people all chipping in, it's going to be $20 for the league dues and then whatever we need for equipment. But I doubt we'll have 20. Maybe if we all chip in $3 every practice, then we'll designate someone to be the equipment manager responsible for buying the balls (preferrably, one of the more reliable folks that have been out to the practices when we've held them).

I'll call Cary tomorrow and see what I can fenagle. I'll shoot my last name and tell them I'm a direct heir to the Gotti throne. The New Yorkers who run Cary understand that shit. They'll be scared.

Do you guys need people to shag balls during practice? I haven't played since 8th grade (used to be in the town's travelling allstar team), and you're all way out of my league, but I'd dig getting some practice fielding. I haven't even swung a bat since then except a few times in batting cages.

I warn you guys, if i pitch bp i may be a lil wild

i still throw in the 80s probably, i used to be better

I was trying to throw my curve the other day for the first time in like 2 years, it sucks

my split and circle change are still on point

as an aside .... you shouldnt be throwing 80 in bp regardless ... so i'd hope your "wildness" wouldnt come into question
