any suggestions? its not recognizing any disk. When I right click on it the dialog box says its working properly but its not doing anything

get a cleaning kit maybe, also does it spin up? does the read light come on? if not it could just be a loose connection.

green light comes on sometimes, but the door doesnt close smoothly, its kind of jerking motion

well... you could try opening it up and seeing if maybe it's just got something loose or the gears that retract the drawer are jammed with dust or something. or...

It'd be simpler to replace the thing entirely, but you could always just open the thing up and take a look.
