keyshawn has too big of an ego for the panthers. he wouldn't be able to stand being second to smitty

agreed. he is like a TO without the hype and press. remember what he did in tampa?
If we sign him then I will root for him, but I will be wincing at every press conference i see him in.

Hey, if we get him and have the tandem smith/keyshawn WR combo, this new center (and *supposedly* beefed up OL), jake has a decent season, and deshaun stays healthy we are going to murder people. (Our D is solid once again and its looking more like we are picking up an instant addition at OLB in the 1st round.)

Bottomline:
He wont be bitching if we are winning.

I remember what he did in Tampa, but you gotta admit he's cleaned up his act a little.

Also he has said that he respects Henning's offensive scheme and would really like to play for him.

If he can deal with being the #2 receiver and stay outta the negative press I would love to have him.

True dat. AND he has a chip on his shoulder and something to prove after getting snubbed by "americas team" for TO. I think he will be a great pickup for whoever gets him as far as numbers go this upcoming season. Its the years to come that I would worry more about.

I still wanted to see K-rob come home though....

similar to marcus "5-1 as a starter" stone.

Jake led the team to the Superbowl his first year as a starter, missed the playoffs his 2nd year as a starter with tons of injuries, and led his team to an NFC Title game in his 3rd year as a starter

his mechanics arent perfect, he cant run like Vick...but he is a great leader and you cant say he doesnt have what it takes to win the big game because he already has proven he does

The thing that pisses me off about Delhomme is that often he makes throws that only leave you feeling like wtf.

Steve Smith/Moose(contract year) have made him look better than he is.

he gets the job done for what we pay him. if we spend some money on a solid running back or possibly another quality WR, the offense will run just fine without a big name quarterback.

Youre crazy if you think delhomme is on the way out anytime soon (barring a pitiful upcoming season).

HE IS CHEAP FOR WHAT HE PRODUCES!
If we had to throw big figures at a better QB then we would hurt on D, WR, and everywhere else.

Plus: The guy has last drive of the game clutch skills like reggie miller.
AND we would be crazy to throw away his experience working with hennig and our other players for some newbie with a higher price tag.....

But yeah 1 superbowl, 2 nfc champ, and a probowl selection in 3 years is kinda shitty.

^ all to proehl though, the #1 receiver on the 2nd team, with which weinke practices.

Not saying he's not a straight back up though

"Panthers, Keyshawn Johnson
agree to contract terms
Free-agent wide receiver cuts 4-year deal

The Carolina Panthers agreed to contract terms with wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson on Thursday night.

The deal is for four years and includes a $5 million signing bonus, according to league sources.

The move should help bring balance to an offense that relied almost entirely on receiver Steve Smith last year. The Panthers view Johnson, one of the league's top possession receivers, as a perfect complement to Smith.

Johnson, who will turn 34 in July, had 71 catches for Dallas last season and also brings size and blocking skills that have been lacking at the position since the departure of Muhsin Muhammad after the 2004 season."

umm I can. We needed another guy besides smitty and we preferred a big guy like Moose. So I think this is a damn good signing. Keyshawn's ego has really cooled down a little and he's still capable of producing for at least another 2 years. Props to the front office. Depending on the draft, I think we're in for a damn good year...
