I wont give out vin info over the web or by phone. Heres why: Someone calls you, gets the vin and your address, goes to dealer and has key cut. Now this person know where you live and has a key to your car and you have never met him or her.

its a little more complicated than that nowadays unless you have a good inside connection.

but nearly all dealerships ask for proof of ID. ive had it done from MB to honda.

they wouldnt even let me get my aunts car, and i showed them my moms ID with maiden name and all.

I had a key cut for a Dodge @ al smith and one from Bobby Murray. Nobody ever asked for any proof of ownership or ID. I had a friend get his Mustang stolen this way about 3 years ago. Cops found it 3 weeks later with all the interior stripped out of it. Cops said it happens on the regular.

I was just letting everyone know not to be so trusting when selling your ride. Dont give out too much personal information out to strangers. I understand it can be easy to do when you are tyring to unload your car but if someone is really interested they will meet you to see the car. Seller beware

ive also had it done a couple years ago also.

it was actually recently (like maybe 2 years ago) when a memo was sent to honda/acura dealers saying to force the ID system. im sure its been around for years, but they have stepped it up the past year or so from my experiences.

well the hood color looks the same as the rest of the car, but the fender on one side matches the hood when it comes to a little faded, wear, but the one on the other side is shining.
THe lining on the airbag on the steering is off, ie not fit in well.
The airbag light is on.
the exhaust is not stock(its been changed), which is nt very normal for a car driven in Raleigh.
the bumper does not align very well, not much difference, but slightly.
has a shimmy above 70

check the fenders for the VIN stickers to see if they have been replaced.

i would steer clear of this car if its going to be your daily driver. with airbag lights on, signs point to a decent accident.

or just lower the price a lot
