So I took a look at my benefits, and they don't look that hot.

401(k), or 403(b) in my case: 50% matching up to 6% of salary. The kicker is it doesn't start until the January 1st after my 3rd year of employment. I started in May so that sucks the big one.

What do you guys get for benefits, and what do you pay for them (for medical and health)?

Ok, nobody cry:

-Fully Paid FAMILY medical with a PPO so I get to choose my doctor, also includes Dental & Vision.
-4 weeks paid vacation (new employees now get 3 weeks).
-401k with 50% match up to 6%.
-12 paid holidays.
-Tuition Reimbursement.
-Retirement, Flexible Spending Accounts for Medical & Daycare, Life Insurance, etc etc.

401(k) 50% match up to 6%, Stock Options, ESPP (15% off of the lowest market price of the start or end of the 6 month period), bonus plan, medical/dental/vision, 4 weeks vacation, free broadband.

and a lot more little things like tuition reimbursement, discount programs, free legal advice, financial advice, etc.

- 401k: Provident fund where they automatically put in 2.5% at 1 year. At 6 years, 5%. At 9 years, 10%. This is regardless of what I put in. Then of course I have the option of putting in both pre and post tax contributions.
- Pension Plan
- Employee Stock Purchase Plan at 15% below
- Health/Dental/Eye (all excellent)
- Tuition Reimbursement up to $18k/yr
- 2 weeks vacation (3 weeks at 5 years, 4 at 10, 5 at 20, 6 at 30) along with vacation purchase options
- Every other friday off (I work a 9/80 schedule meaning I work 9 days in two weeks to get 80hrs). This is the equvalent of an extra 5+ weeks of vacation.
- Life Insurance and disability
- No set number of sick days
- Full Relocation - meaning even if I request a move, they will buy my house, pay movers, provide spending $, and real estate agent assistence
- Yearly bonuses based on company and individual performance. Depending on grade level, the % of salary used in the calc is 10%, 15%, 20%, and maybe higher. Mine last year was 1.3 (individual perf) x 1.05 (company) x 10% of my salary.
- Other bonuses for overtime, turnaround, etc. For example, the work I am doing today and over the next few days will be worth $1500-$6500 depending on how well we do environ, safety, cost, etc. And I am in the low range since I am only slightly involved. Others will get $10,000 or maybe more.
- 10% tax adjusted post Katrina retention bonus
- Training, Recruiting, Ability to participate in community functions (i.e. science fairs)
- Various company discounts (i.e. Dell, GMC, Cingular, gym, etc)
- Maturnity and family leave (don't know how much since I haven't needed it)
- There are also some benefits for elderly parents and day care discounts which I also haven't looked into.
- $2000 over the course of my career for things life financial advisors.
- Various flex time options
- Group Auto Insurance, Group Legal Plan

our benefits are pretty good, about like above

the only thing i wish was better is our 401k matching... it's profit based, so if we do super well one year it might be great but if we don't it might be nothing.

mine suck for the most part

get paid $15 a month for med insurance because i'm in shape
dental/vision is a rip off so i'm sans that
flex spending
2 weeks vacation
bonus of up to 50% of salary monthly (hard to hit)
exec compensation in 2 or 3 more job grades (+20% salary at the end of the year)
equity (stock options) after a couple of years
lots of taking people out to lunch
great relocation if i need it

Awesome Medical free for me, my wife, and all future dependents.
Includes vision and dental.
3 weeks paid vacation
1 week of sick days paid.
1 week of 'personal' days paid (take off for whatever reason I want, basically).
13 paid holidays, assuming I work the day before and after the holiday.
100% 401K matching up to 3% of gross.
Discounts with all our major customers - airfare, cars, hotels, flowers, shoes, you name it.

And I'm part-time. 401K matching ups to 7% for full-time.

^^^not true at all really. you can move to louisiana! haha. nm

no really - there are refineries all over the place. denver, philadelphia, martinez CA (i would love to move to our site there!!!), los angeles, seattle, memphis, chicago. for the most part, just look to major port cities and you will find at least one refinery or chemical plant.

word of caution tho. working for an oil company pays really well. BUT you can get called on weekends, called at 2am, if the shit hits the fan the day before your vacation.... too bad, oh and you work in the middle of stuff that can blow up.

Wow. You got the goods. I worked for state government (NC) but got out because (consider this a warning):

$485/month family medical - and rising
2% raises that occur once every 3 years (must be approved by state legislature - which never happens)

The flip side of the coin was:
24. 24! paid vacation days. The state was big on giving more vacation time in lieu of raises for several years because they knew that no one would be able to take them. Now that I think about it it might have been worth it if you could just take one month off each year and find another job to supplement income.
