Im thinking about taking Calculus 162 during Summer 2 session. Is it too much material to learn in a month?

i haven't taken it, but with summer courses in general i'm always a fan of having the first days material still stored in short term memory for the final exam... really helps for the things that you have trouble w/ memorizing. dont have to go through a relearn study cram phase at the end of the class.

I've taught calculus (241, 242) in the summer. It can be really boring (typically 7:30-9:40 or 10:20-12:30, five days a week), but if you can stay focused, you can get through it quickly.

i took calc3, 242 over a 5 week summer session. i enjoyed it. i had to study everyday to get the concepts but since it was only 5 weeks, i remembered everything at the end of the semester for the final.

i did ma 141 over the summer, 5 weeks, m-f, 1 1/2 hrs a day, plus maple = crappy 5 weeks of summer, but i did meet a couple hot girls in there

took 241 and 242 last summer, the teacher sucked. bought a solution manuel for the text book and tought myself all the material. Not bad though ended up with a B+and a B

i took 141 over the summer
i had silber
so that was unpleasant
but i didn't think the class was that bad but damn i hate maple

took 341 over the summer. its not too much material to learn in 5 weeks. i actually think its easier b/c its something you have everyday so it keeps you focused and you don't have other classes to focus on at the same time

It doesn't matter when you take calculus, just who you take it from. I didn't have a good calc 2 prof and never learned it properly, and it hurt me throughout my entire engineeirng curriculum. It's not too much material to learn in a month, just make sure to inquire about the prof's reputation.

As a general rule maths and sciences are easier in the summer because you get TA's who don't give a shit and are lazy. Unless you want to actually LEARN something. I took Calculus in the summer, bumbled my way through it, and got a B for little to no effort. However, I also suck at math and have no fucking clue what I'm doing even after that class.

^ I've heard that about Lung Chung from many of my friends. Must be true, because I think his grade distribution is pretty good, too.

And any course taken over the summer can be so much better than a semester-long course if you have the discipline, motivation, and TIME to do it, no matter how bad the professor is.
