Herb was the man when it came to team moral

Everyone who played for him respected him, and he treated all equally

I will miss that most of all.

If he does win us a championship he will be NBA bound....
If that happens I will be happy and we got what we paid for, im sure his replacement will be easily found and also a baller....

But lets land the guy for sure here, poeple ,before we get too far into this...

That's some seriously gay shit^^^^

Did you forget all the fucking transfers? Bennerman complaining? The team giving up the second half of this season?

He was good at a lot of things, but maintaining morale was not one of them. No one thinks that herb is a good manager of emotions.

^Ive heard from multiple players & players girlfriends that he wasnt liked as much as everyone put on.... Grumblings about our offense from players off the court werent rare at all...

since when does liked = respected?

Yeah, maybee a couple of guys bitched over their role or playingtime, but they were all treated like sons by Herb. He did not take shit from his players and was the man at discipline.

^^^^Josh Powell has stated numerous times that he left because the players weren't "all being treated equally"

Quote :
"No deal was struck, sources said"

ps I think this is bullshit. Even if a deal was struck, their sources wouldn't know because it's in everybody's interest to keep the deal an absolute secret until Calipari told his players and recruits first.

As I said before, I think it's a done deal. Chancellors don't fly out to Memphis to interview potential coaches. He flew out there to get a signature on a contract.

I expected something to leak from the Memphis side by now. This is not looking good.

Why exactly would something have leaked from Memphis? The only ones who would know are the AD, family, and the team.

Word gets around faster than one might expect. Also when you say team that includes everyone. Also a lot of people in the athletics department would have heard. That's a lot of mouths to keep shut and somebody would go to a friend in the press, imo. But that's assuming "it's a done deal".
Clearly he is thinking about it.

Random thought, if we do indeed get Calipari, would it be safe to assume we are going to have an interesting opponent for our home opener? Not a UConn or anything like that, I just can see ESPN or someone wanting to televise his first game, and I doubt theyd want to televise us playing Campbell or UNC-Asheville.

^^^^^^Lets get one thing straight, I loved Herb, I think he should still be here. What I was saying is that I am sure Herb talked to his team. Herb Sendek is one of the best coaches in the nation and will find success, I have moved on from him though, and am looking forward. If we can no longer have Sendek, We must find a real leader, ie Calipari.

He has built two programs from nothing, recruits very well, gets NBA talent becuase he was a coach for the Nets and Kids trust he will prepare them, Fast paced offense, very fun to watch, tons of energy.... works with the fans to establish traditions......need more?

I respect what he did at memphis, but after the big east got through with Conf USA, they were kind of #1 by default.

^^agreed. I just hope he can recruit at other places besides that laurinburg bball prep school.

^ They had all day long. It's not like Fowler just left. But yeah, tomorrow I'll get worried. But in all likelihood we'll know one way or the other--no like the Barnes situation.

dont bring that uninformed statement in here

just to clear up because I hate how he left
Herb didnt tell his team he was leaving until Sunday morning after it was already announced, wanna know how our team found out he was gone? The internet...yepppp...Packpride and TWW told the players before Herb did...he left scholarships unfulfilled, players pissed and unsigned...and players to practice, play, and decide where to go now on their own. not a single time during the wholeeeee ASU contract did he mention it to his team, dont respect Herb as much as you do...he screwed his players in the final moment

not that im pissed or Hated Herb, he brought us to a good building point, but he left them in shambles so dont think he told them.

Whoa, don't bring that shit to me, you have no idea the circumstances surrounding him leaving so shut the fuck up. Herb Sendek represented this school so well, and took the basketball team out of the fucking gutter. I think he should be remebered as the savior of this fucking program and once again, I have no idea how you know how the fuck he left! Who the fuck did he screw, no one, he actually gave kids like Wright a chance to move on if he was not going to be there, and of course the players are left hanging, that happens every time! I am sure Herv did as much as he could to respect those kids as fars as I have ever heard about his relationship to his players.

sendek did what he was forced to do by our unappreciative fans. if it weren't for him, we wouldn't be at the point where we can realistically target barnes and calipari as replacements. we have talent and money and a good program here.

if we do get calipari here, we can jump to the next level in a minimal amount of time. we won't suffer a "rebuilding" process unless we get forced to hire a no-name.

i always supported herb, and i'm greatful for what he did for us. i wish more people would agree.

i do think that calipari would be a definite upgrade though, and i'll be very happy if we get/have him

haha^^
theres kids on the team that are pissed at Herb for what he did and how he left

I never mentioned Wright, Wright could suck for all we know, who cares hes not here yet. All I know is that the players were left with no support and no way of knowing where to go from here. I know the circumstances surrounding how he left as well and he did the kids wrong.

I respect the man for his moral, character, and superlative image he left of NC State as well as our current stature in this conference and in the nation I do not however respect how he left this place and our players.
