So I have an Audi 1.8T a4 cabriolet, and unfortunately, its not a quattro

Howerver, I want some more power, especially acceleration, I always drive my car is "S" - Sport mode

I was looking at ADP units, supossedly will boost my horsepower with the switch of a chip

Will this void my warranty? When i bought the car, i made them throw in a warranty to 100K and all services paid until 100K, I just have to pay for tires, so i dont wanna mess with that

What other options do i have?

pretty sure a chip voids any warranty though

anything you do will possibly void your warranty depending on where you go, depending on the agreement you signed.

APR has a Stock mode, which apparently makes all their software invisible.

Intake will do nothing for your car.

Exhaust will make a good improvement, but that will void any warranty relating to your turbo.

leave it stock if you want warranty. they can detect any chip/software if they really want to.

nah

found out they lied about that

just said "from all the mods youve done, we wouldnt believe you if you told us your ecu isn't chipped."

all they have to do is check the file size or look at the vin on the ecu.

there are ways they can find it on there...

well the chip would be the only modification i plan on doing...

supossing i went with the ADP chip where i can revert back to stock mode through the cruise control knob, would they ever suspect it?

and yeah, it might not be the fastest thing on the road, but its fun as hell to drive and the cabriolet sure looks a lot better than that ugly bmw of yours scottc

a4 1.8t front trac cab fun to drive? haha thanks for the laugh.

a4 cab isn't the hottest thing on the road.

i wouldn't consider anything but apr, revo or giac. even then i'm not a huge fan of the revo sps device or whatever the equivalent is for giac.

If the rest of your car is stock, and you flip it into stock mode, the dealer won't think twice about it..

true. they usually wont check unless they have a reason to suspect...

i wouldnt choose a chip based on how easy/hard it is to switch modes (none of them are really that hard, but some require a device)... you should really choose the chip based on what type of performance you want (all power numbers are roughly the same, but power delivery can vary a lot) and the quality and availability of local customer/technical support.

luckily, in this area (central NC), there are dealers for GIAC, REVO, and APR. so the decision is really up to you...

my only recommendation is to do some research so that you can make an educated decision.. try out different software (most offer a trial flash)... see if you can get a ride in someone's car...

I had an 03 A4 1.8TQ and had an APR chip installed at BFI in Cary. The change in hp and torque was very noticeable and worth the money.

The only problem I noticed was that under hard acceleration the clutch would "shudder". This problem only occured when the chip was turned on and never occured when I tested it with the chip off. It was very annoying to say the least. Something to think about before you get chipped. The A4 clutch is only rated at 250 lb/ft from what I read on vwvortex.

sounds like he has an automatic anyway. is that a common issue with A4's? the clutch in my jetta is rated for a lot less than 250 lb/ft & i'm making even more torque than you are with no problems so far.

i should be at the crank, but if the A4 only has APR it probably isn't.

torque = force * distance

lb*ft
or ft*lb

APR software is weaksauce. Makes less pounds of foot than the other chip tuners.
