It's fine. Meat turns brown after a while, just like blood. Be wary of meat that stays red, it has been pumped with chemicals to make it that way.

^^carbon monoxide injection.

has been a big debate.

mainly because meat people are loosing millions, or billions i dont remember.

this is done because people seeing the meet not red and immediatly bypassing it, when in reality, there is nothing wrong with it.

if my burger ain't pink in the middle, it's going back

if it isn't rank and slimy, it's good to go.

I wouldn't keep meat in the fridge more than 2 days. three tops.
Meat that turns brown is does not mean it's bad, but with ground beef you have to be careful and make sure it is fully cooked because the grinding process is exposing almost all of the meat to air and contact inside the grinder.
steaks are different, beacause the tissue on the inside is naturally protected from air
and cooking will kill off any bacteria that might be hanging out on the outside.
(I grill ALL of my beef at room temp because I like rare to med rare and find it easier to
get it done the way I like it. But ground beef.....well done baby)

hope this helps.

Oh, also get an inexpensive fridge thermometer. I keep my fridge JUST above the freezing mark
and things stay fresher longer.

^^^yeah, i have a buddy in the Marines who was a chef at some nice places (Casinos in Vegas, got offered a job at a 5-star place on one of the Greek islands, but turned it down to go USMC). He's a little bit of a food snob, of course, but won't eat a burger cooked less than medium-well.

I am trying to figure out how this makes any sense.

Is your freezer broken or something?

MRE (I think) are Meals Ready to Eat.

It just turns brown when it oxidizes from the air, it should be fine to eat.

But in all seriousness, once it starts getting slimy, get it the hell out of the fridge.
