Face it, we are not getting a big name, and Frank Haith is the best alternative.
He's beat Roy, He's a good recruiter, He's young, & He wants this job! 4/14/2006 10:30:27 AM |

Frank Haith deserves multiple threads of support.
Besides that thread was a discussion thread. This thread is a pettition to bring him in.

He's been a head coach for TWO FUCKING YEARS. He did a pretty good job his first year and underchieved a little his second year.
How can you say that he's an excellent coach??? 4/14/2006 1:14:59 PM |

Maybe it is a grim situation, but it is what it is. Now let's all support Haith so that we can end this. Like it or not, he's our best option.

ok now that's a stretch. he has definitely not done anything that makes him worthy of the title "excellent coach", but i still think he'd be a good fit for us.

Why do we think he'd do any better here than at Miami?

^^^Stop being a fucking hater to everyone. If you think you have a better option, then start your own damn pettition.
^Better support & better facilities. But who is to say he isn't giong to be successful at Miami. He's only been there 2 years, but I think he is improving that program & turning it into an upper ACC program (similar to ours).

I didn't hate on Barnes or Calipari.
I don't hate on Gillispie either.
I hate on Haith, Brady, Lavin, Brey, etc... because we can do better.
And fuck your petition. Put your support for Haith in one of the other one million threads that want this unproven coach as our next head coach. 4/14/2006 1:32:58 PM |

because miami sucks. they sucked when he inherited them, then they moved to the ACC and he improved them while playing against ACC teams.
the man hasn't even had a chance to recruit and adapt their style to the players he recruits. if he stays at miami i see them continuing to improve.4/14/2006 1:35:22 PM |

^^And what exactly makes you think Gillispie would even come here? And what makes him an excellent coach & the only acceptible choice?
And Barnes & Calipari aren't coming here. Is Gillispie the only acceptible alternative (even though he isn't likely to come here)?
Even if he did, I wouldn't see him staying here long term. 4/14/2006 1:40:35 PM |

I have no idea why he would come here. I think there are a lot of reasons why he should come here (moreso than Barnes or Calipari) but I don't know if that means he would come here.
What makes him an excellent coach?? How bout the fact that he completely turned around two programs that were in the dumps. Haith hasn't done that. He's turned a dissapointing program into a mildly dissapointing program.
Is he the only acceptable choice?? Probably not...but he's the best that's left that we have a chance at. We should go full-force in hiring Gillispie before we settle for Haith.
And will Gillispie stay here?? I have no idea. He's a Texas man of course. But what program is he going to leave us for to go back to Texas?? The University of Texas is the only one I can think of...and just so you know...Barnes is still young, he'll be there for a while.

^^Gillispie is a good coach, I'm not saying he isn't. But I'm just saying he's not a Calipari/Donovan/Roy excellent coach. I would be happy with him, but again, he has no reason to come here, aside from a fat paycheck (which it would have to be). He'll be much better off staying at A&M.
And Barnes may not be leaving UT anytime soon, but Lute Olsen probably is & I think Gillispie would take that job in a heartbeat.
I want someone who will be here long term.
