This is horrible, and is just a lazy move by Wake. 4/21/2006 3:27:59 PM |

yeah i saw it on pack pride and decided to post it here. also i changed Wikipedia's info on artificial turf to give credit to the man that was behind the invetion of it. David Chaney, former Dean of the NCSU College of Textiles. throw out a little NC State props on there. 4/21/2006 4:06:46 PM |

There's a soccer field in Durham that's like that. I came home with a million of those rubber pellets in my shoes. It was nice to play on though. Looks pretty sweet too. 4/21/2006 4:19:43 PM |

I think this is a conspiracy by Grobe to allow his offensive linemen to more easily injure opposing defenders with their illegal clip and chop blocks.
Seriously... 4/21/2006 4:56:46 PM |

there is no reason why an outdoor field in the South should ever have artificial turf. 4/21/2006 6:08:11 PM |

there is a high school, Northview, in Duluth, GA that has field turf and a 20' x 20' scoreboard with instant replay jumbotron
talk about one helluva booster program
btw- field turf is awesome to play on 4/21/2006 7:59:32 PM |

I think this is a good thing. Wake notoriously has the worst playing conditions in the ACC. Visiting teams have routinely complained about poor footing and heightened chance of lower body injury (knee or ankle).
The field turf will actually be an upgrade, now if they can just get real crowd noise 4/22/2006 10:06:00 AM |

Looks like they're joining some pretty good company.

Just think, if we did this to our field, we'd save enough money each year that we could gold-plate the players' urinals in the Murphy Center! 4/22/2006 10:58:04 AM |

Have you seen FIeld Turf? Have you seen the shitty turf at Wake?4/22/2006 12:04:02 PM |

ive played soccer on high quality field turf, and like i said, if the grass isnt maintained properly, then field turf is an option. another option is hiring someone who isnt a dipshit to manage grounds. 4/22/2006 12:08:10 PM |

Incidentally, the fact that we had Jay Davis doesn't mean that Wake had a good football team last year.

there was just an article today about a high school in Nashville, TN having a donor give the money to get the field turf...although they do use it for lacrosse and track field events and other things besides using it for their usually nationally ranked football team. still seems a little over the top for high schools4/22/2006 3:57:57 PM |
