I have a 10-month old kitten. He has had all of his shots and is very sweet. I worry that sometimes he gets bored while I'm at work all day. Looking back, I realize I should have gotten another kitten for him to grow up with. I live alone in an apartment and really am unsure about whether or not I should get another cat for him to play with. I would love having a female kitten, but don't know how he'll feel about not being the only cat. Any ideas about all of this? Has anyone experienced something similar? Know of anyone giving away a female kitten?

I just don't know if he'll like sharing the house.

Get a snake

Get one of those "for cats" DVD's that put birds and stuff on the TV.That'll keep him entertained. And keep it so he can sit by some windows. He'll keep himself entertained well enough.

he's a cat... cats are pretty much always ok. hah

o wow...another kitten

Get some toys, and maybe one of those tower things for him to climb and play with, and he'll be fine. Cats are good at entertaining themselves.

We had a similar problem with our kitten (he was 6 or 7 months old at the time), so we decided to get another kitten of a similar age. Once our kitten had a friend to play with during the day, he was much more happy, friendly, and playful. It was a good decision with ours, and I think getting a similar aged kitten is important, if you go that route.

man it would be fun to come over and play with your cats

let is roam outside (assuming you have yard space, and it's fixed).I would say get another cat though.

^you're a moron for suggesting that. letting pets like cats roam free outdoors is irresponsible and destructive to wildlife.

yep...outdoor cats kill a variety of species, sometimes for fun. They kill more on a scale of biomass than a bobcat.

If you're open to adopting a kitten or cat, you could try the Wake County SPCA. http://www.spcawake.org They have rooms where you can introduce your cat to a potential adoptee.

everytime I look in classifieds at the free kitten threads or on craigslist I want one
5/6/2006 4:19:08 PM
I think I'm going to get one from craigslist. My parents will hate me. I know I can't keep 2 kittens at their house and it's going to be a bitch to travel with them and stuff but I want one way too much!

Don't do it. Don't cross the streams.
5/6/2006 4:47:12 PM
huh?
5/6/2006 4:48:21 PM
We already went over this a few weeks ago. Two cats=two much troubleIf you cross the streams, bad things will happen. (It's a quote from Ghostbusters, not funny I guess, sorry)

5/6/2006 5:05:05 PM
maybe so- but I would love a new kitten. and I think Shady would love to have a new friend.

I want one and at 7 will be calling a lady with some little kittens. So right now I have to make the final decision. Am I getting another kitten? Will Shady (my cat now) like it? Should I get a female or a male? Will it be okay that they wont be the same age? HELP ME PEOPLE.

this isnt a thread that requires much help

some cats REALLY dont take well to other cats coming into their home. My two adult cats tried to kill a kitten that I was babysitting for all of two hours and then some do just fine. That being said I would ask the lady if you could keep the kitty on a trial basis of about 2-3 days, just to make sure they wont try and kill each other. This might be a bit late since its after 7, but i'd try that, or go somewhere like a shelter where you can introduce your kitty to the new one before taking it home. Obviously one of them should be fixed if they are opposite sexes if you dont want any more babies running around.[Edited on May 6, 2006 at 7:37 PM. Reason : can't type]
