So, I went to the doc last week because I fucked up my leg somehow (probably at work), and it wasn't going so well with waitressing at a fast paced bar.I go back in today and literally got bitched at for working three days since the last office visit... but they didn't tell me not to work and I gotta pay the bills some how.Anyhow, I was then told that i absolutely positively cannot waitress for at least two weeks... and that if I can pick up a host shift I can't do it for more than 4 hours (which probably wouldn't work where I am working at). apparently they are worried I will have to have surgery if it doesn't heal on its own very soon (I have been limping on it for 2 weeks already)I can't afford not to work for two weeks... does anyone know of any jobs that pay half way decent and wouldn't have a problem with me occasionally sitting down or leaning so that i don't have all my weight on the one leg for long periods of time? (and yes, I am checking out the classifieds also)

^^ Just because you get hurt at work doesn't mean you get worker's comp. It has to, in some way, be the employer's fault.

can you not talk to your boss and see if they have options that would allow you to still work there without being on your legs?for example, you sit while hosting until you have to take someone to their table or something of that nature?just a thought...~skip~

In all honesty, losing 2 weeks of pay is probably a lot less than paying for surgery because you didn't listen to the doctor.

^^ If you get at work you can probably get better than worker's comp.

If you are looking for work for just two weeks, it will probably be hard to find quickly without having to do all the paperwork, training, etc. It would probably take close to a week for them to hire you, then another week to get trained, then you would be ready to quit. Anyway, if you are looking for something that temporary, try finding something that pays under the table, like cleaning someone's house or something. If you permanently want another job, then look into something like a grocery store cashier. I know they let you take breaks and when it's not busy, I'm sure they wouldn't mind you leaning on the register and resting.

Remedy StaffingACC StaffingTry staffing services, you might find a job you genuinely love. I haven't finished school yet, because i'm making 45k at an office that I was just "part time temping" at to start.

I'm not really looking for something temporary, I'm probably going to minimize the number of hours I work where I'm already at depending on how bad i really made my knee... but I am looking for somewhere else that pays decent and where I can work longer hours. So far I have three places taht I have a little promise... so, hopefully by wednesday I will have something new.

try wachovia, where you call people to get them to pay their loans on time. i think it pays 8 or 9 an hour, and they pay you while you train for a week or two.

Look for a job as a receptionist at an urgent care or hair salon or something. Then you can sit down. You wont be making as much but then your leg can heal.

Most temp services can help you get permanent part time employment, or keep you busy on different assignments its worth a shot
