I'm probably buying a new car in the near future and I was wondering what everyones experience/thoughts are on the Xterra. From what i've heard mechanical trouble isn't bad at all and they're pretty nice, but wanted to see if anyone on here had an opinion of them.

my roomate has one and it eats up brakes like crazy, doesnt get good mileage, and doesnt ride well, not to metion it chews up tire like crazy, and rattles like a sum bitch

Not sure about the brakes and tires issue, but they do drink some gas. And the ride? It is not as smooth as your average sedan but better than say a Wrangler.

The Xterra has the worst interior of any SUV I have ever ridden in.

I have no clue how it won "SUV of the Year 2006"...honestly I would stay away unless you've test driven it and just love it.

I'll own any truck Nissan builds. Period. Reliability is there, and you'll have to decide for yourself if you like the blatantly obviously observable features of the truck, say, like its INTERIOR or perhaps its RIDE.

And it's a fucking SUV...of course the mileage ain't the best in the world. Fools who buy SUV's for their mileage are just that...FOOLS.

motor trend? that's like the tobacco industry saying cigarettes are safe.

of the two nissan's i've owned, they were rather terrible initally. the pathfinder continues to suck. i got rid of the other one.
