I need to choose between a wireless USB connection or just buying a PCI slot wireless card for my desktop
need to move my desk and stuff around, but it would be too much trouble to move the cat 5 cable already in the room and I don't want cable run on the floor
I already have a wireless router for laptops in the house 5/9/2006 8:17:47 PM |

i have no idea why you would buy a pci slot...definitely go with the wireless usb thing
[Edited on May 9, 2006 at 8:27 PM. Reason : its portable unlike ethernet, and practical, unlike pci slot(unless you like unscewing that shit)] 5/9/2006 8:27:14 PM |

USB will be much faster than your internet connection is, so you won't be slowed down. 5/9/2006 8:38:28 PM |

If you're going to be sharing large files on your local network and you have Wireless G, then you're going to want to make sure you have USB 2.0 on your computer. If you don't care about that, then don't worry about it. You're basically constrained to the following speeds:
Wireless B: 11Mbit/s Wireless G: 54Mbit/s
USB 1.0/1: 12Mbit/s USB 2.0: 480Mbit/s 5/9/2006 8:44:53 PM |
