if this happens..

http://news.yahoo.com/fc/US/Bush_Family/

I think I've done well enough to keep fairly quiet for the last year or so, and I was planning to not bitch too much more from now until 2008. This may drive me over the edge.

Just to be clear here...

You hate his views or you just hate his family members so you'll bail on America?
Because if its the latter, you're a douche, the former will allow you status of just as dumb as a Baldwin

I like jeb bush quite a bit, he speaks properly and is a very competent person. However, I have come to utterly despise his brother... I might vote against him just for having such a stupid brother, but I hope I can see past it, we all have idiotic family members we wished didn't exist.

You conservatives keep pushing for a return to hereditary divine right monarchy and you’ll end up with another fruit in office like King James… sure he gave you an inerrant version of the bible that you all seem to enjoy so much… but he was also fond of 17 year old guys.

bush has been shifting wealth to the nobles with the tax cuts for the wealthy, of course they are going to back/fund the campaign necessary for the next heir to step up to the throne

Actually, according to my favorite anarcho-capitalist website being a libertarian usually results in a far higher per-capita chart creation rate compared to other political idiologies.

We like to think it is because we are the only ones expousing an idiology based upon the actual workings of reality and like all idiologies we enjoy having our beliefs reinforced.

To answer a previous question...

I don't know how I feel about Jeb Bush because I've never heard him espouse his views. I'd research it before I decided to support him or not.
And it would have nothing to do with his lineage

Also, why is Hillary Clinton not like a monarchy?

because a monarchical line of succession is from parent to child. not from spouse to spouse.

FWIW, i dont know what the fuck you would call that.

All I have to say is it would be a fatal error for the democrats to pick Hillary as presidental candidate.

from a progressive perspective, shes got about as much credibility as Lieberman. On the other side, a lot of republicans are too embarrassed to support their party right now. But put Hillary in the race, and holy shit will they come out of the woodwork to vote against her. Their hatred for her is pathological.

Bush is pure evil. Move up to canada, lefties - pay your 50% income taxe, the 15% sales tax on every purchase and wait a year to have a simple medical procedure. Go for it.

i would move to Canada but its too cold. Im thinking about New Zealand. Less rednecks and more asians.

http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/Taxes/P148855.asp?GT1=8011

and this is a good article. Canada doesnt have much higher taxes than we do and many places around the world have much lower taxes. And the fact I dont want kids makes this even cooler. Just dont have kids in Turkey tho.

and NC has one of the highest gas taxes. wtf

This will be my new home in 5 days. Orange county isn't exactly Canada, but its how north carolina does blue counties. I'm not actually moving there b/c of the politics (& definitely not b/c of loyalty to the school, although i am fond of their college street/town feel), but for work/convenience since I'm graduating this semester. A canada liberal I imagine is farther left than a north carolina liberal though.

CNN:
Quote :
"Members of Congress expressed concern Thursday about the report. (Watch angry senator say "Shame on us" -- 3:56)

"It's our government, government of every single American -- Republican, Democrat or independent," said Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee. "...Those entrusted with great power have a duty to answer to Americans what they are doing."

In the House, Majority Leader Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, said, "I'm concerned about what I read with regard to the NSA database of phone calls. ... I'm not sure why it's necessary to us to keep and have that kind of information."

Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pennsylvania, said he would call on representatives from the companies named in the USA Today story, AT&T, Verizon and BellSouth, to testify."

Quote :
"President Bush has argued that the resolution authorizing military action after the 9/11 attacks, along with his authority as commander-in-chief of the military, give him the power to initiate the program without a court order, as a 1978 law requires.

The Justice Department has been denied security clearances for access to information, which prompted it to drop an investigation into the program. (Full story)

The Democrats' No. 2 member of the Senate, Sen. Richard Durbin, called the development "evidence of a coverup."

"The fact ... that the Department of Justice has abandoned their own investigation of this administration's wrongdoing because there's been a refusal to give investigators security clearances is clear evidence of a coverup within the administration."

I remember when Dubya ran, a lot of people commented that the wrong Bush ran for office. Jeb was the one apparently being groomed for the office, but it was by some fluke that he lost, Dubya took over Texas, and then later, Dubya actually got into office.

I'd give Jeb a chance; maybe more of his father rubbed off on him than on our current President.

George Bush is an idiot, but he's not as stupid as I think many people think he is.
In my opinion, I think his decisions are made by a lot of nameless, faceless, and very rich outside influences. Jeb Bush, as competent as he may seem, will inevitably bend over like his brother. There's his father, Cheney, a whole bunch of other conservatives breating down his neck, and let's not forget the corporate club. This is just my opinion; don't take it at face value, but...

Jeb Bush will never win the presidency. After 8 years of GWB, there's no fucking way the american people are gonna put in another Bush
