I'm shopping around for a new car and I have a budget of roughly 45k. I don't necessarily want to spend that much, but that is my upper limit. What suggestions do you all have?

I'm leaning towards a convertible, something like a BMW 325ci.

oh..for a car, Get a 3xx-series BMW, but get it via European Delivery

Google it, you actually save money on the car but get Buy 1 get 1 free plane tickets to Europe...you pick your brand new car up from their factory and vacation in Europe driving it around

What are you looking for? That is a question that should have been asked. Do you have preferecnes on size, gas mileage, options? Those all make a difference. 45k covers a lot of territory.

for 45k, you should be able to get an M5
only thing is that if you were a car person you probably wouldnt be asking this question in the first place and an M5 is a big step for someone who isn't a car person

45k gets you a well loaded A6, a BMW 5xx, a Benz, Chrystler 300C, Dodge Magnum, Charger,
Acura ?, Infinity G35, and the list goes on.

If you are looking for something smaller, Audi, BMW, Benz, Nissan all make good cars in the range.

You got many options. Figure out what you need the vehicle to do for you and then figure if you need a Sports Sedan, Sports Car, Sport Wagon or a SUV. Once you narrow it down to the type, go on Edmunds.Com and click on the Forums section to see all of the owner reviews for the different manufacturers of those vehicles. It is a good site. My pic though....

Sports Sedan: Acura TL, Audi A4, Infinity G35, Lexus IS350
Sports Car: Audi TT, Honda S2000, (soon!) VW Scirocco?, Mini Cooper S Convertible, Nissan 350Z
Sport Wagon: Audi A3, Volvo S40, BMW X3 (more wagon than SUV)
SUV: Acura RX, Infinity FX35, Volvo X90, Toyota FJ Cruiser

Not all of these are 45k, you could pocket some change for other stuff. More Investments maybe?

I like the Chrysler 300c option. You'll still have $5-$9k left depending on options. Or you could get the 300 SRT 8.
