We will lose in the name of the war on terror? Its evident the government collects our phone records, library withdrawals and monitors our internet traffic. I say intelligence agencies also scan our financial records, property taxes and DMV records.

saw this earlier:

1. We're not spying on phone calls.

2. We're only spying on phone calls outside the US.

3. We're only spying on phone calls between US and foreigners.

4. We're only spying on US to US calls related to "terra".

5. We're only spying on all US phone number patterns.

6. (Prediction) We're only listening to certain phone conversations of suspects.

7. (Prediction) We're recording all phone calls but not listening to all of them.

8. (Prediction) We're listening to everyone's phone calls.

9. (Your prediction here)

Why not. The IRS has been doing just that for decades.

Someone should conduct an experiment and mention how they would like to kill the president at some point in every phone call they make and see if they are contacted by some shadowy government agency.

I know some people that tried the thing where you say certain keywords echelon is designed to pick up, and after a while they would hear the clicks on the line.

Wait, are people trying to take away your ability to make a call or are they just recording the fact that you made one?

the liberty isn't the ability to make the call

its the ability to make the call in privacy

ps

the gov't didn't fuck with your civil liberties on the call records - at&t did
