That is absolutely applicable when you're dealing with people basing politics on religion.

both parties have their irrational factions. For an educational film to posit that liberals are more rational than conservatives just smacks of the condescending, self-righteous elitism that is pervasive in liberal academia.

drunknloaded totally nailed it.

Losing the presidential election in 2004 was downright shameful and humiliating.

As far as being rational, off the top of my head I can think of one absolutely absurd move by conservatives that spookyjon has already touched on in this thread a bit...abstinence-only sex education...and I'm not just talking about public schools...they took it international...like fucking Uganda and shit...

IS THAT FUCKING RATIONAL?

^^You understood TGD was being sarcastic, right?

Anyway, back to the original topic, I always assumed academics were "liberally" biased because they're academics, you know, they study and think about shit.

^Okay, I'm confused now. I thought Raleigh does have a pollution problem, and we do need mass transit. Major cities in the entire South need mass transit.

Are you objecting to his or her assertion that we're in a cancerous zone? Cancerous zone. LOL.

Mass transit is a policy debate I'll skip, but Raleigh doesn't have a "pollution problem." Take a look at some of the EPA's studies on Raleigh's air, as well as some of the independent analysis of EPA methodology.

That, or just spend a week in LA

Its too much of a generalization to say that all conservatives favor abstinence-only education. You need to qualify it with a "social" or something so you don't confuse it with us all.

I never claimed it was, bias is inevitable. It's the pretense of unbiasedness that annoys me. Unfortunately liberals just don't like to admit their liberals, b/c they realize they'll be ignored by the overwhelming majority of the population.

that's the attitude of a loser

and i don't mean that in a "talking shit" or "making fun of Democrats" way. I mean that you (as a party) continually shoot yourselves in the foot, then act like it's the fault of the electorate for not being insightful enough to choose you.

the electorate is stupid, yes, but not THAT stupid. I mean, by that logic, is the electorate stupid for approving of the President at a 30% rate? You can't really have it both ways, you know.

I think the GOP might very well screw itself in the next election, but I'm not gonna sit here and say it's the American people's fault for not recognizing GOP genius--no, it's the fault of the GOP for being stupid, among a number of other negative adjectives, and for being out of touch with what America wants.

Now, one place that Americans are a bunch of retards is that they bitch about getting robbed blind by taxes and about our ridiculously huge deficit, but still don't want to be weaned from the governmental teat...but that's another subject for another thread.

well yes, see it's very easy to tell what things are not. this website for example is not, say, a rooster. or a chair. or any of all kinds of other things.

hence why "what exactly is a corporation not again" wasn't the question.

so, not to get repetitive, but...

It's worth noting that a corporation can indeed be a private citizen, there is no size requirement on a business that says that it must have X thousand people before it can be a corporation.

Yes. It's stupid of them that it took this long for that to happen. The president is no worse than he was two years ago when the people elected him.

i was using that to illustrate that it's stupid to say "the only reason Democrats aren't winning is because the electorate doesn't know what's good for them".
