I'm sure there are a couple of cars owned by people who post in this forum that would run a new M5 without any problems. My car would be right on its heels in an acceleration contest (and I suspect would be virtually even with it from a roll-on, as opposed to a standing start). I'd outrun it easily in top speed, simply because it's limited to 155 mph.

my Miata would've probably edged it out in any acceleration contest, although it was gear limited to something less than 155 (I don't remember exactly what).


and I can't imagine that I have the fastest car out of everyone in The Garage. There have to be at least a couple that would smoke an M5.

I like the way the older (E39?) M5's drive. I can't wait to get a chance to get behind the wheel of a new one.

Incidentally this reminds me of a thread I made about encountering a Ford GT. Even the wording is almost the same.

Whoever compares an M5 to a Miata needs their head examined. A miata is a girl's car I don't care what kind of aftermarket mods you do to it. In the end, it's still a miata. Oh and what is your curb weight stock to stock? An M5 is an excellent piece of work from pure design to performance. Until you own one and drive one so you can appreciate it, no one can talk that kind of crap. Z06 are alright for domestic. But a Z06 is a totally different animal from a luxury sport sedan not to mention it's pretty much fiberglass and carbon fiber. Some guys put turbos and superchargers and maybe lower their cars an inch and two and think they are paul walker or something. I don't get it.
