Epson PowerLite S1+
1400 Anus-Eye-Looms
500:1 Contrast Ratio
800x600, supports resolutions up to 1920x1080 (1080i, 720p, 480p, etc.)
About 1000 hours on a 2000 hour bulb, but this projector's replacement bulbs are way cheaper than DLP, expect to pay $150 or less for a replacement bulb. Projector is under warranty until May 2007.

Lowest price on froogle is $719.

HighDef signals look incredible on this projector!

I'll take $550 OBO

90 day warranty on refurbs, this still has 1 year left of FULL warranty coverage (that means epson will send you a new one and a UPS label to ship the old one back if it messes up) bttt

800x600 is only going to play 480p content natively and everything else will be down converted and jagged.

Yes everything will be down converted. NO it will not be jagged. It looks better than my roomates 26" 1280x768 LCD. 1080i (It doesn't convert to 480p, it converts to 800x600 which is better than 640x480) looks AMAZING on this projector. bttt

People underestimate, or just don't know, how good a projector looks.

800x600 on a PJ = the heat

when are you going to end this thing? If you'll give me a more definite time frame, maybe I can bid seriously and buy it off you if it's within when I want/need it

No it doesnt look better than a 1280x768 LCD, it may look bigger.

Yes it converts to 480p. 480p is 720x480, not 640x480. I owned a 800x600 projector and yes its definitely sweet, but there's no way you are going to get more than what a refurb unit costs.

Your bulb is half way dead, which makes it an even bigger gap.

Noen--
It definately DOES NOT convert to 480P, The projector scales all resolutions to 800x600. The video processor on my roomates 26" LCD is of lower quality than my projector. You can come look at it for yourself. It looks better (and bigger). Even though his LCD has a 1000:1 contrast ratio the dark areas on his screen get the checkerboard effect. Something my projector does not do, even with 500:1 contrast. I will have this thing sold by Wed (June 21). So bid accordingly

unless it is a 37" or larger LCD, no.

Current high bid is $350, keep the bids coming, I'll end it Wednessday (or sooner if my reserve is met).

where oh where to begin

you bash him on the resolution

thats not the problem

the problem is a 500:1 stated contrast ratio, on an LCD projector.

First of all , 500:1 is terrible

Second of all, they lie/skew contrast ratios to begin with

Its worth 350$ though

Im turning into more of a "scaler makes the tv" not resolution.

Sure you got lots of pixels.

They look great with motion blurring, poor deinterlacing, and color gradient color blocking.

Yeah, your DVR can output one set resolution to any device.

But if youre argueing for the sack of HD resolution, the faggots who insist on 1080p on a display smaller than 65 inchs you will be outputing 1080i because in your mind, thats close to 1080p. Then you turn on this great display, watch something with motion (read:everything ; lifetime and oxygen dont have HD channels yet) and see blocking and blur on all pans.

Fuck i could write an essay about this but the point is:

Bad deinterlacer = = show fucking stopper

My point is the video processor in this unit is very good! I don't know why you are continuing to argue with yourself about the resolutions. I have plainly stated the projector displays all images at its native resolution 800x600. 500:1 is not a bad contrast ratio for LCD projection if it were DLP it would be terrible.

However, it is not DLP. Most LCD projectors fall in the range of 250:1-600:1. You can play Halo 2 on this projector and see everything. If it is a very dark scene, the lights will need to be off in the room. However for ANY projector to get the best color and depth of field, the room should be dark (unless you are using a 4000 Lumen presentation projector, which games do not look as good on, sort of washed out). This projector is a great entry level projector. This isn't for someone who wants "true HD." The difference between this and true HD is trivial though. I had this set up next to a 52" Toshiba HD set for the Super Bowl, projected onto a white wall (not even a screen) and the true HD set's higher resolution was indistinguishable from the Epson.

Hate on it if you want to, but this is a completely respectable rig.

[Edited on June 16, 2006 at 9:04 AM. Reason : The new generation of LCD projectors have better contrast ratio, but they are $1500+ this is 1/3rd $]
