i guess its how we were brought up. play it but by alll means, dont watch it. why is soccer so under the radar in the us? most kids play it but nobody cares to watch it. why did we even bother making our own sport american football? why do we always have to be different? (stupid ass pounds and feet)
why cant they at least show the people who run out on the field. thats the most exciting thing about soccer. endings suck because you really dont know when its gonna end. the game just...ends. stoppage time is unpredictable. 6/14/2006 2:06:50 AM |

I've been over this. Many, many millions of children play soccer. However, kids who play soccer don't become soccer fans because there's no world class soccer to watch in this country. There is, however, world class baseball, basketball, football, and hockey. 6/14/2006 2:09:32 AM |

if soccer was regarded higher here there would be world class soccer because everybody would want to grow up and be a great soccer player. we are one of the most athletic countries in the world. we are top 3 in almost any sport we focus on. 6/14/2006 2:17:45 AM |

It doesn't hurt, of course, that we have more people than almost every country in the world outside of India and China. The "face" of our national team, Landon Donovan, isn't good enough to cut it in the top flight of Germany. There's no getting around that. The NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB are elite leagues because they're the original major leagues in their sports. Similarly, the elite soccer leagues in Europe exist as such because they've been built up and invested in heavily for over a hundred years.
Ronaldinho by himself is worth the entire nearly the entire yearly payroll of the Yankees. 6/14/2006 2:22:21 AM |
