Quote : | "via today's Toronto Sun:
The Raptors trading the No. 1 overall pick to the Bobcats, along with PG Alvin Williams, for Charlotte's No. 3 pick and PG Brevin Knight.
That makes sense for the Raptors, if they think they can still draft Euro-stud Andrea Bargnani at the No. 3 spot (and save some rookie salary), but what's in it for the Bobcats?
For Michael Jordan to dangle as trade bait? To have his pick of players? To show he's a deal maker?
Chad Ford was reporting that new honcho Jordan likes Brandon Roy; maybe he wants to ensure he gets his pick by jumping ahead of his old team, the Bulls, who have been rumored to like Roy, too.
I don't think it's "too high" to draft Roy at No. 1 overall, particularly since experts already had him in the draft's top 5.
And in a draft where fans and experts are hard-pressed to pick a definitive "No. 1" player (Bargnani? Aldridge? Thomas? Morrison?), "best fit" is as good a draft rationale as any to take a player No. 1 overall. " |

I dont think we need Aldridge
Bargnani is being pumped up right now, but I honestly dont know anything about him so I cant comment on him
Tyrus Thomas has upside, but he wont be on the court for flat out scoring ability
Morrison is just the opposite
So pick defense or offense
or just pick Roy, who from what Ive seen, can do what you need him to do 6/22/2006 9:44:37 AM |

Michael Jordan = Kwame Brown
This is not good for the Bobcats. Roy probably is the most NBA ready of the top-5 players though none are clear future stars. 6/22/2006 9:57:27 AM |

if they could trade down and get another player from a team thats pretty good already this would be the draft to do it in...
^those were my three, I do like Thomas as well...
BK's contract isnt that bad on our cap, so i cant see how trading him would help...
Roy might be left after 2 picks anyway, the bulls are just fucking with us 6/22/2006 10:10:24 AM |

I see us as a team that plays, umm top 25% best defense in the NBA
Our picks and trades should reflect that
Isnt Iverson one of the highest at steals in the league? 6/22/2006 10:33:36 AM |

^^yeah but if it would be at all possible to afford iverson, his defense would be great...but he's also the player who you give the ball to with 20 seconds left in a tie game...before we never really had that...also he's one of the few players in the league that could put up 40 or 50 points on any given night
^he'd be a great player anywhere...i just think defensive big men are not as much of a concern for us as big scorers] 6/22/2006 10:39:57 AM |

so this years offseason will help determine which side yall wanna swing to, jordan should add some needed direction as well 6/22/2006 10:43:23 AM |

^^^^I know he's nowhere near Ben Wallace but that was a big reason we got Okafor(if he can stay healthy) is because of his defense so I agree we need a bigtime scoring option instead. I really like Roy just as an all around player

Stay at #3 and pick Roy if he is there and if he isn't pick Rudy Gay, who has way more upside anyhow.
I mean really a 6'8" shooting guard who can jump out of the building.
He will be as good if not better than Roy. 6/22/2006 11:04:51 AM |

they could get way more than a shitty number 1 pick and alvin williams for Brevin Knight and a #3 pick.
Brevin led the fucking league in assist to turnover ratio and was 3rd in the league in assists.
not to mention top 5 in steals.
this would be a terrible move if we make it.
Let other teams court us with offers for Knight, but dont just jump at the first bite.
Dammit Jordan....you better come through. 6/22/2006 11:19:09 AM |

yea this is a terrible deal. there's no consensus #1. we'd be happy with gay, roy, or morrison, and we can get 1 of those 3 at the 3rd pick. it just doesnt make any sense. of those 3, i'd think roy would be the one that would definitely still be there. dont get it. 6/22/2006 11:57:37 AM |

Players Cancel On The Bobcats Either everyone in this NBA draft is injured, or no one wants to audition for the Charlotte Bobcats. LaMarcus Aldridge, Tyrus Thomas and Brandon Roy -- three of the top six players in the draft Wednesday -- pulled out of workouts scheduled for today with the Bobcats. Coach-general manager Bernie Bickerstaff expressed frustration with the situation in an interview with the Observer on Tuesday night. "Bottom line, we're just not happy with the way things went down,'' he said of the wave of cancellations. So will they be rescheduled between now and the draft? "At this point, no,'' Bickerstaff said. -- Charlotte Observer 6/22/2006 12:00:20 PM |

GM Bernie Bickerstaff has been active in trying to trade up or down in the draft.
The recently rumored swap that would send Brevin Knight and the No. 3 pick to Toronto for Alvin Williams and the No. 1 was shot down by Colangelo on Wednesday.
It's still unclear, however, what the Bobcats want to accomplish. With Michael Jordan in a decision-making role, will they dump their strategy of building slowly through the draft and opt for a more aggressive approach that brings in veterans?
At this point, the Bobcats look more and more likely to stay at No. 3. They are zeroing in on Roy, who's likely to be available when they pick.
---Sounds like this was just a rumor and nothing else 6/22/2006 6:12:07 PM |

this is so crazy...some college kids get a chance to play basketball with Michael Jordan (at their warmups / tryouts / "job interviews")...kids who are gonna get multimillion dollar guaranteed contracts...and they dont want to play ball with Jordan? now if Aldridge and Thomas dont expect to come here, they expect to be the 1st 2 picks....i can sort of understand that...but all 3 of them? crazy...as much as I hate UNC, if I was a Cedric Simmons or someone, I would jump at the chance to work out with the Bobcats and Michael Jordan6/22/2006 6:14:39 PM |

I just dont understand why you would turn down a workout with anyone.. i mean what is it gonna hurt.. you never know how far you might slide (aka the NFL Draft).. i just dont understand a workout with an NBA team.. if your dream is to play in the NBA then their is no reason to turn down a workout unless you truely are injured, and if so you should clearly explain that 6/22/2006 6:22:41 PM |

From ESPN
Quote : | "As big of an idiot executive we can all agree that Isiah Thomas is, there's no way he can be a worse coach for the Knicks than Larry Brown.
Simply by treating his players with a minimum of respect Brown was lacking, Isiah will probably inspire at least a few more wins than Brown, whose "Right Way" was the absolute wrong way for the Knicks roster he was working with. Meanwhile, the hot rumor (and the Brown insanity taken to its logical extreme) is that Larry will end up in Charlotte working for Michael Jordan's Bobcats.
Yes, because Brown proved with the Knicks that he is a WONDERFUL fit with a young, struggling roster. Importing Brown would be MJ's biggest blunder as an exec yet, in a short career studded with them." |
