I've got a wart at the base of my second toe, and I didn't expect it to become so painful, and I had hoped it would go away on its own.

My aunt is a nurse, and has verified it's a wart.

The pain is beginning to interfere with walking.

While I have health insurance, it's still so crappy that I can't afford to see a doctor.

Has anyone had any luck treating warts at home with salicylic acid? I've seen the duct tape method, but that just seems wacky to me.

The duct tape works as well if not better than the acid.

There are also new kits that you can both freeze them and then acid them.

You seriously need a doctor of some sort. I had a few on one of my toes and I finally got it treated with some squaric acid and they were gone within two weeks. Freezing with liquid nitrogen didn't do anything, and the home acid treatments didn't do shit, either. Those fuckers are annoying.

You can try freezing it off. Now they sell that stuff in the can to do it at home.

i found the best way is to get so drunk that you can no longer walk, then try walking up the hill on brent road.

you will wake up hours later with blood everywhere, but the wart will be somewhere on the pavement.

saved me 100 bucks

i've basically scratched away warts before that I had on my toes or fingers. I had one on my arm once and picked it off with my fingernails.

I had a wart on my thumb and I dug it mostly out in class one day with a safety pin.
I didn't realize the girl next to me was watching the whole time, absolutely disgusted.

i have typically cut out warts on my fingers. but they bleed like a bitch. i am currently using some compound w (salicylic acid) on some warts on my feet and they are going away quite nicely

the duct tape actually does work. it's a pain in the butt though trying to keep it on your foot without it falling off for 7 days. i'm in the process of trying the new home freezer, Wartner. we'll see..

i've also heard that banana peels work...like if you sleep with a banana peel on it every night for a week or two it will make the wart disappear

i had a roommate in college who had a planter's wart on his foot. he tried liquid nitrogen a couple of times, but it always came back. he tried the acid stuff they prescribed him, but that didn't work either.

finally, he chopped it off with a pair of cutting dykes, then got me to trim it up with an X-acto knife and cauterize it with a soldering iron. it never came back after that.

Well, you need to get the liquid nitrogen in there for a bit, just a spray will not do anything but wear down the skin's epidermis, and if you already havn't noticed skin isn't the best conductor of cold.

And, jesus christ you people how are you getting so many warts? Don't you ever bathe?

It's a common viral infection. That's like saying "Don't you ever bathe?" to people with colds.

fuck a doctor. Duct tape is the best solution. look it up. The best way to kill the virus is to kill the skin that it lives in. Some also suggest using sulfur and duct tape to choke off the wart.

This has the same statistical success rate as dried ice treatment, and it is hundreds of dollars cheaper and easier to do.

Also, plantar warts can come from gyms and places like that since it is a virus.

Quote :
"Oh, and according to some other dermatologists website, the tape effectively suffocates the area which begins the process of killing the wart, then as that part of the body is suffocating, your immune system kicks into high gear and finishes it off."

i seem to get one every few years right where my pencil rests on my finger, so I dig out what I can with a knife/clippers/tack/safety pin then pluck out the spores with good tweezers (that I promptly throw away afterwards). I have to put pressure on a part of the finger so while plucking, it won't bleed until I let go. Freezing and the acid don't ever seem to work. They're attached to blood vessels so be prepared for the blood with paper towels and bandaids

don't waste money on the OTC freeze-off crap. way too expensive. just buy some keyboard cleaner (air in a can) and turn it upside-down. put the tube next to the wart and spray. repeat 4-5 times a day and about a week it'll be gone.

seriously guys, use garlic. get a garlic clove, cut it up/mince it. put it on the wart and put a band aid over. it will burn a little bit but after you take it off there will be a layer of skin that comes off. do that a couple time and take garlic pills and the wart will go away. i used to have a lot of them on my knees and feet. they're not fun at all.

this method totally kills the wart, unlike freezing it off.

Good call.

I already got the dr scholls salicyclic acid pads, and I grabbed some of the target brand WartOff...which was fortunate, since the Dr Scholls dots are smaller than the wart.

Fuck that. I couldn't do it to myself, and no one else touches my feet.
HELL NO.
