Ok, its totally unsubstantiated and I'm at work so I don't have time to research it yet, but Neil Boortz just mentioned that not only are Earth's ice caps melting, but so are Mars' ice caps. This would point to a hotter sun, rather than greenhouse gases and global warming--although still leaves room for a little bit of both.
Anyone got information on that? 6/26/2006 11:18:18 AM |

Between global warming and a hotter sun, I'd take global warming.
For obvious reasons. 6/26/2006 11:19:58 AM |

Um..Patherfinder and the two mars probes were there...do you and we all know how much greenhouses they produce. Geez, we want to fuck up our planet and Mars. Shame on us, shame 6/26/2006 11:32:03 AM |

it's funny because he's basing this on neal boortz.
think about it for a second: NEAL BOORTZ.

actually i was reading more about it, and scientists point to a possibly more active core to mars (seismic and volcanic activity) as the cause to these changes.
but if you want to talk about an incomplete data set. mars' data set is only for a handful of years, so this could EASILY just be part of normal cycle. 6/26/2006 12:02:06 PM |

on earth AND mars it could easily be part of normal cycles 6/26/2006 12:07:55 PM |

well, it's a little harder to argue with earth, seeing as we have evidence of temperature changes for thousands and thousands of years, as opposed to just a few years for mars. 6/26/2006 12:13:49 PM |

lots of people only want to focus on the human factors, or only on the natural factors
but they coexist
thats why its so fucking difficult to determine the causes of global climate change...and why its foolish to immediately jump to either side for lack of evidence, imo6/26/2006 1:18:39 PM |

Neal Bortz talked for at least five minutes about how basketball players are too tall, so there needs to be a "21 foot rule" for basketball. The maximum total height of the players on the floor at any given time cannot exceed 21 feet per team.
Now think about that. Think about that for just a minute. This guy said this on national radio. 6/26/2006 1:33:22 PM |

wait wait wait. . . 21 feet.
i'm gonna do some quick math:
21/5 = 4.2 ft.

Some of you who just lambasted the source, and me for using it, didn't even read the first fucking sentence. You fucking ADHD retards!

Its not reason you lack, its the ability to pay attention and remember sentences as you read.

Well I mean you're making yourself look stupid by trying to be funny with that statement.

Well, if it does cause a new ice age then sea levels will begin falling... the creation of new beach-front property in most coastal cities would create a shit load of wealth... I wonder who gets to claim land that didn't exist before? I suspect it will probably be claimed by the city for auction. 6/26/2006 6:34:46 PM |

Correct. The correlation with the Sun's luminosity and Earth's historic temperature isn't very strong. It strongly affects some chemical cycles though.6/26/2006 6:45:41 PM |
