i just got done taking 251 with Lloyd
shes awesome, but shes a tough grader for the projects, id sell you my books but id actually like to keep them and read them
for Summer 1 we read about an average of two works from Chaucer, Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Samuel Coleridge, Alfred Tennyson, Jane Austen, Robert Browning, Emily Bronte, Christina Rossetti, and Virginia Wolfe
yea it was reading everyday, some days substantial amounts, but the in class discussions are awesome and are pretty much led by the class, with Dr. Lloyd throwing out topics and key points in the books to lead the discussion. I enjoyed it, and it actually piqued my interest in British literature because the works we read were extremely entertaining and touched on a variety of emotions and genres, good reading selection, which is why i want to keep my books

well, everyday we had to have a journal entry prepared at the beginning of class for the readings we were to have done.
the journal entries arent too bad, minimum of 250 words, and the only grades shegives are C, B, or A..as long as you do it you cant get lower than a C
There are 2 projects, one is a group presentation about an author that we are beginning to discuss. You have to prepare X amount of handouts for each student, and then stand up there and talk about the author for no less than 10 minutes total
The other project is an Annotated Bibliography about a chosen author and one of that authors works read in class, you just have to use peer reviewed journals that talk about the author's life, his time period, and a specific work (1,2,3 sources respectively). Its an independent project and u dont have to present it to the class
The final is fair, you will get quotes from a work, and you have to point out the author and the work that was quoted. there are also about 6-8 essays varying in length with prompts about specific events and characters of a work. Its not a bad final, just the essays get tedious 6/28/2006 10:11:47 AM |
