So I built a file server and it works fine, I put it on the floor it stops working...
I go... okay... and recheck my connections making sure the power cords are working etc. Make sure I used the same power cable and the same power connection. Still won't turn on.
I pick it up off the floor set it on the desk and it turns on. *twitch*.
I think maybe the power supply has issues so I replace it and check it again and just in case I also replace the power cord. Test it... it works fine. Even shook it a bit just in case. I put it on the ground... fucker won't start *Raaarggg*
I put it back on the desk... and joking hit the power button. Damn thing starts. OH MY GOD... so I sit there with a flashlight and can't find anything. I decide to take out the mother board... in 3 pieces. Somehow in storage the motherboard got broken (I kept the motherboard in the case). It was so tightly held together when flat that you couldn't even tell it was broken. When it was set vertical a connection is broken and it of course didn't work.
Thought you guys might get a kick out of this.

Raige smish! ever read GUcomics? Toast Smish... same thing.
The way the motherboard was designed (it came with the case btw so was preinstalled) was that it had all 12 screwholes that matched up. The cracks were back by the ports for keyboard and mouse, but the power connection was toward the drive bays so when I pushed down it didn't show.
Just unlucky. 7/3/2006 8:41:48 AM |

I can honestly say, in 20 years of using computers, I have never seen a cracked motherboard. 7/3/2006 11:49:34 AM |
