none of the restrictions affect me anymore because I will have a season ticket holder's parking pass.
I highly reccommend going on PrickPride or one of the other boards and find someone with a pass in the RBC lots or near the stadium, you can literally do whatever the fuck you want, at any time. I did that last year and was able to get into the lots any time I wanted, staff just waived me on in. 7/9/2006 7:57:48 AM |

This is the orginal press release. Not sure if or when these are approved.
Quote : | "North Carolina State University football fans can expect to see a few tailgating rule changes in the upcoming season. The changes are designed to ensure everyone can have fun in a safe and friendly environment.
Chancellor James L. Oblinger convened the NC State football task force in the fall in response to complaints from fans that some of their fellow fans’ tailgating had gotten out of hand. The task force was made up of students, faculty, staff, and representatives from the Wolfpack Club and the Alumni Association.
“What we’re saying to our fans is: Have fun and behave,” said Dr. Tom Stafford, vice chancellor for student affairs and co-chair of the task force. “We want everyone to have a good time and be respectful of everyone else’s right to have fun and enjoy the games.”
The rule changes recommended by the task force and accepted by the chancellor include:
1. Establish and enforce listening levels for music.
2. Require that tents remain contained within the allocated parking area of a tailgating group and that they are flame-retardant.
3. Prohibit beer kegs in any stadium parking areas including vendor or university-sanctioned events.
4. Require that fans carry a picture ID in accordance with university regulations.
5. Engage the Wolfpack In The House (WITH) program as a sportsmanship initiative to assist in publicizing the rules and promoting good behavior in the tailgate lots and inside the stadium.
6. Encourage tailgating participants to bag their own trash and leave it at the parking bumper.
The NC State Board of Trustees will vote on the keg provision during its April 28 meeting. The other changes do not require board approval.
“No set of rules and guidelines will be effective without our fans’ support and cooperation,” Oblinger said. “I am asking all of our fans to take appropriate steps to bring a positive atmosphere to football game day. We can cheer the Wolfpack, be respectful of each other and be great hosts to our guests.”
Oblinger tabled the committee’s recommendation to establish pat-downs of the ankles, wrists and small of the back, an approach used at National Football League stadium gates and at the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte.
The committee also considered eliminating the practice of allowing fans to leave and then return to the stadium, but recommended the practice be retained for the 2006 season.
Oblinger said he will reconvene the task force after the season “to consider whether the changes have been effective in altering the culture of football game day, and whether further changes are needed.”

cant really see everyone bagging their garbage....or following the noise rules. i still cant believe the changes that tailgating has undergone from my freshman yr to my senior yr. the only thing we used to worry about was the a.l.e. because we werent 21 then. these new rules practically ruin one of the best traditions state has. they better not try to enforce the entrance to the lots only 3 hrs before the game, thats fucking gay.

Most of these rules are targeting the students, no doubt. I've partied with my relatives in the non student lots some, and grown ups really are more civil, even at their rowdiest they aren't doing stupid shit. I'm not going to lie, I had a blast as a 16 year old coming to the tailgates in the student section. Now a couple years into school I realize that enough kids our age just can't handle alcohol correctly. It sucks that the few bad apples have ruined it for everyone though. 8/1/2006 9:51:52 AM |
thebody Veteran 183 Posts user info edit post |
the cops usually arent as bad in the trinity lot, which is where we usually try to tailgate anyways. i think rules such as no kegs and stuff are just idiotic though. you can just as easily take in 6 cases of beer in coolers if youd like. there are some aspects you simply cannot control, which is where i disagree with some of these rules. like music levels... it is frustrating like you said that a few people have ruined this tradition for us. i just wish the school could go about it in a different way.

Control could easily be maintained with greatly increased cop presence. I don't think anyone that is looking for an orderly family experience will mind extra cops.
But that costs money 1CYPHER...
I also don't think many of these families would mind paying an extra $5 per game for an increased police presence. Though, it really is mostly the students though, so just hit us with the extra fee. It's mostly a don't care for me. I have a good time when I am there, but it would be nice not to be hastled by some cop over my music volume though, thats going just a bit too far.8/1/2006 10:12:46 AM |

yeah i wish they could just add more cops, to keep basic control... not going out of their way to fuck students, but just to maintain order and deal with the kids who cannot control themselves. 8/1/2006 10:15:51 AM |

Of all the new tailgating rules, I'd have to say that arriving 3 hours before each game is the worst. When I was in school, we used to go to Trinity on Friday afternoon and party all night until the next day when they opened the gates to C-F. That was a tradition. 8/1/2006 10:20:27 AM |

On a serious note, however, the legal standing of these across-the-board pat-downs is in limbo. The Florida courts have already ruled it unconstitutional for Dolphins games, and Chicago is ending theirs due to an anticipated legal challenge. I imagine that is the reason they aren't broadening this, and the fact that they don't want to hassle alumni that much when there hasn't been any credible threat of suicide bombers at football games...8/1/2006 11:27:00 AM |

How in the hell is a Raleigh ordinance supposed to be enforced outside of Raleigh? In case you haven't heard, the fairgrounds and the stadium are not in Raleigh, ergo, Raleigh local ordinance has no authority.

except the guy wasn't talking about a raleigh ordinance. the ncsu police are the ones incharge of the lots so they could very well drive around and do that. or, they could request RPD's help and RPD could ride around and do that.

I've wondered about the 4 hour thing. 4 hours isn't going to prevent what the school is trying to prevent, public intoxication. 4 hours are plenty of time, so they are not avoiding the problem. People saying they are going to just buy six cases, I'll believe it when I see it. If for every keg that is usually bought, and people buy 6 cases to make up, I'd expect the convienent stores to be sold out. There is going to be way more trash though, I don't know how the university plans to deal with that. I knwo plenty of people in the RBC lots that bring pony kegs and such, I wonder if they do anything about it, although they don't usually get in any fights in the RBC lots. Another problem is that the usual student parking is on the way for visitor and public parking. they should zone vistitor parking and student parking on opposite ends. As much as I hate UNC, a 70 year old tarhole doesn't deserve to be taunted, not real sure what people get out of that. 8/1/2006 10:51:38 PM |

while that is the case for most of the student population . . . not all of em are like that. and that small percentage is what all these things are aimed at. I have seen many cases of people supporting the other school just walking through the parking lot and some drunk idiot starts laying into them. Or what happens a lot is that some person from the other team is walking through and maybe they do start something. Then the next group that walks through gets it when they haven't done anything.8/1/2006 11:53:35 PM |
thebody Veteran 183 Posts user info edit post |
I wasn't saying the trinity lot was a student lot... however students still can park there, as I did for the majority of the games last year. And in reference to the 6 case thing; i wasn't saying everyone would go out and buy 6 cases. However, like travis said up above, it could cause kids that would consider going in on a keg to buy a similar quantity... and if you have ever been tailgating you would know that isn't an out of the ordinary amount of alcohol for a big group to bring.
can we not all just agree we want tailgating to be the fucking best time possible... god damn.

I was in the Trinity lot last year and I don't remember seeing/hearing any tarholes recieving more taunts than what they deserved. For instance, this one father and son duo dressed to the T in UNC shit was walking down Trinity road on the C-F side when they crossed the road and walked through the tailgating parties.....thru and over actual parties and stepping over people as they walked with a shit-eating grin like its some sort of rite-of-passage ceremony to play with wolves and not get hurt.
The problem that I had, and I expressed this was "What the fuck are you doing, dipshit? Why are you walking through someone's tailgate party, stepping over our chairs and shit. Are you retarded? Do you not see the road towards the stadium? Do you HAVE to go around your ASS to get to your ELBOW? Are you showing off?
This is the stupid shit that I don't understand. Stop trying to parade your walmart jersey around and through my tailgate party, you fucking ignoramous pseudo-intellect who think you're making some kind of emphatic point by GETTING IN MY FUCKING WAY. 8/2/2006 10:45:49 AM |
