So one media outlet thinks we're myopic for wanting Chuck gone, and then another media outlet calls him the most overrated coach in college football.
It's either one extreme or the other, I guess. There's no place for moderate feelings. 7/8/2006 12:36:11 PM |

19-2 out of conference record you would think that would make him a great coach, but then again..........look at who we play
As for fans, State is close to the worst, but from experience fsu(thug state) fans are the worst.
I do wish NC state fans would quit calling everyone faggots. We having the highest % of guys in the acc, expect for maybe V-Tech(thug Tech). 7/9/2006 1:34:52 AM |

if you watched any of our games you know just how true that statement is. those three first round draft picks were our team last year. if we hadn't recruited and developed them, we would have been 5-6 at best.
please don't point out how fucking awesome our d-line was for two years running and try to say we underachieved. the nfl doesn't draft underachievers in the first round. if you want to find the problems with chuck and our team, look elsewhere.7/9/2006 2:55:12 AM |

You blame the offensive line, the quaterback etc. um............thats kind of my point. Its like when he "develops" nfl players he deserves credit, but when the rest of the team sucks, well thats not his fault. Thats their fault. Its not like he can play or anything geez. 7/9/2006 3:09:13 AM |

"underachieving" means chuck did a little with a lot. i'm not sure where you think we underachieved. for the most part, the guys who were supposed to be good did well; the guys who didn't sometimes did pretty well, too.
we sure as hell didn't underachieve on the d-line or on defense in general. we were a little weaker in the secondary this year, but we did pretty awesome considering we didn't return any starters at their previous positions.
did we underachieve on the offense? do you seriously think we had that much wasted talent in our passing game? we had some okay receivers who made do with what was thrown their way. the fastest guy got kicked off the team. we had one quarterback who made some beautiful throws followed by terrible decisions and 30-yard sacks, and another who thinks he's a running back. chuck has evidently sucked at recruiting and developing an o-line and qb's and receivers ever since norm left, but i wouldn't call that underachieving, because there was never much promise there to begin with. he just needs consistent help at OC.
if you look at the big picture of his 6 years here, especially given the history our football program, if you look at the facilities he's built and excitement he's brought here, i don't see how you can call him an underachiever. 7/9/2006 3:28:08 AM |

the fact that chuck put in brown and stone around the same time and we got instant success tells me that he could have done it earlier, which could have meant more wins, which means we got less wins than we should have, which in my book=underachieving. 7/9/2006 4:39:39 AM |

well Stone wasn't very good in the beginning of the season. remember the EKU game? so we probably would have done worse if he was the starter during the beginning of the season. now around the midway point he was better and we were able to go 5-1 with him. also i thought AB was having fumbling problems in practice at the beginning of the season and that's why he wasn't put in more. 7/9/2006 4:46:32 AM |

Let's talk about in-game coaching. You still want to argue that we didn't underachieve?
Did you even watch the UNC game? Remember us being on the 15 yard line with at least one timeout and enough time on the clock to AT THE VERY LEAST, get a field goal? Remember the game clock just running out because our big tittied coach didn't call a time out?
How many games were lost due to penalties? By the end of the season, those problems were fixed, but why wasn't that done earlier? It plagued us in 2004 as well, so it was certainly a known problem.
We can easily make a 20 page thread full of stupid in-game coaching decisions that Chuck has made over the years. He's a great salesman and recruiter, but can't coach a game to save his life.
I'm far from wanting fire Chuck (unless someone like Cowher wanted the job), but I certainly don't see him as the second coming of bowden either.

Well...when I went down there in 2002 for the Thursday night game, their fans were cussing and even pushing State fans as they entered the stadium. I was simply walking in, minding my own business, and groups of their fans were yelling F State and F U and such. I was shocked really, because I had heard that their fans were decent but I must admit, it was a nice quiet walk back to the car after we ripped them 38-6.
Also, their fans have started crap everytime they've played here since at least 1999. 7/9/2006 5:02:31 PM |

ive noticed state and clemson become bitter rivals since the late 90s (im a clemson fan whose been to every state/clemson game since about 95 missing only that thurs game where we got killed). Both fans and players seem to lose their heads in these games. Ive really only seen clemson fans (in general) act nasty to state and usc fans. It also doesn't help that about 3 of the games theyve played against each other have been the worst refereed acc games EVER. 7/9/2006 5:57:39 PM |

They are some of the best host fans i've ever seen at an away game. I went to the NCSU-FSU game last year at Doak and everyone welcomed me graciously, and not one person talked any sort of shit to me (before or after the game).
