If you're going to commit a crime, it's probably best to not create a public record of intent beforehand. 7/20/2006 2:53:54 PM |

My buddy who worked at cingular used to do it all the time. Just don't use the phone during the supposed time that you lost it. When you tell them you lost it make sure it is lost somewhere that it cannot be recovered like the bottom of a lake. Good luck 7/20/2006 4:58:29 PM |

One thing is with Sprint and all these bitch ass cell phone companies, you will probably get a reconditioned old phone that works like shit after waiting about three weeks or more. You can't walk in to the store and have them hand you a new phone. They set it up to take themselves out of the equation by contracting a seperate company to handle the insurance claims/replacement phones. This company also sucks a nut. I got disconnected about ten times talking to them. 7/20/2006 9:57:56 PM |

Sprint blacklists the serial number so the phone cannot be activated once it is reported stolen. There is not any way around this with an ESN based phone.
If you had a GSM(cingular) or iDEN(nextel) phone you could just switch the sim cards and there is no way for the carrier to keep track of that. With a CDMA(sprint/verizon/alltell) phone there is no sim card and the carrier activates by serial numbers, which are easy for them to block. 7/21/2006 12:46:27 PM |

I thought this thread was going to about how the insurance itself is a scam. Not how people unfortunate enough to have gotten the insurance are dumb enough to try and scam it. 7/21/2006 1:37:30 PM |
