So my old phone is dead, but i have a 2 year agreement with Alltel, only 1 year in. Do i have to change my plan to get a new phone without paying way too much? What if i bought a phone off craigslist/ebay or somewhere. I dont know how it works

buy your phone on ebay.

make sure it's an alltel phone

take it to alltel and tell them you have a new phone, and want it activated.

profit.




You can, in reality, use ANY phone, but it gets a bit more complicated.

So they just activate it-you don't have to switch plans or any of that crap like they say you have to?

Only if you buy the phone from the alltel shop and want a discount.


You could just go in and buy the phone straight up, skipping ebay; but chances are you'll find it cheaper online.
