When you're not expecting it and have a 30 pound (?) camera on your shoulder, it doesn't take much of a push to send you flying. Not to mention that his sole thought when falling was probably to protect the camera, so his fall was probably harder than it could have been.
I believe he had to go to the hospital to get some stitches afterward. (concussion, too)
