For... $85(70 Euros) a month you also get free phone and TV. From the article (in French): "The historical operator opted for a GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) FTTH architecture (Fiber To The Home). This technology allows up to 2.5 Gbits/s download and 1.2 Gigabits/s upload." |

France doesn't have the competative bullshit we do, the closest thing we have to that is TIME WARNER, and they're profit whores. 7/26/2006 12:52:16 PM |

It's really 2.5Gb/s shared among multiple subscribers. Realistically, it's a little under 100Mbps down, and about half of that up.
However, it still blows any residential broadband we have out of the water. 7/26/2006 12:57:02 PM |

you can get internet and cable here for that much. and you can use services like google talk, etc with your internet service. if the 2.5 Gb/s stuff is true, then that would be pretty awesome, but i'm assuming that's exaggerated. 7/26/2006 2:28:02 PM |

What good is it if content can't be delivered that quickly? In some cases, they'll have to wait for content providers to upgrade their infrastructure just to serve it up at those speeds. 7/26/2006 3:36:51 PM |

I get 6Mbps from Comcast and that's more than enough. My only wish is that my upload speed were a little faster because Remote Desktop often lags. 7/26/2006 7:07:50 PM |

we do, but it's stupidly expensive and limited in scope. Verizon offers FTTP and here's the info:

Oh please. STFU. Thats like a poor person saying they are perfectly content with struggling in life and you should be too. You know you want the extra bandwidth (I know I do), you just saying that to justfiy the sorry bandwidth you get now. Fuck the United States. This country is falling so far behind because of corporate greed. I have to get out of this country. Compared to the French and South Korea we might as well still have dial up.
BTW, step the fuck off Dragonball Z. That show is the shit!! 7/26/2006 10:15:57 PM |

Corporations receive billions of dollars in tax payer dollars to support themselves. Corporations are socialist institutions, because in a true free market economy they wouldn't exist (at least not in the form they do today).7/27/2006 8:25:52 AM |
