modem into the cable line if you have road runner
i want to put my computer a good ways away from the existing one and really don't want to run that much cat 5 cable and i'm not sure if i want to do the wireless thing either.
i know it probably won't work but i've wondered this for a while. 7/27/2006 7:16:28 PM |

You're right--it won't work. Unless you want to pay for another Road Runner service. 7/27/2006 7:40:57 PM |

cat5e can run a good 250 feet with no problems
seems like 90 meters is the limit
that would be 296 feet
cat6 can go farther

umm we're talking upstairs and back probably 150 ft... i'm not really worried about degradation i just don't want to have to run it that far. the physical act of placing it in the walls etc. 7/27/2006 10:42:24 PM |
