bobbydigital question:
CCNP - cisco certified network professional . . . . just got a job offer and the offer letter should be ready monday. they stated after employment i'd need my CCNP within 90 days. there's a 10K salary bump when I get it w/in the 90 day period.
is this possible guys? i suck at test and will also have to get the CCNA also.
how long do you think it'll take to past both tests? and how much studying should I apply. 7/28/2006 10:14:59 PM |

ccna would have to come first
and it's doable fairly quickly with access to equipment
90 days for a ccnp is doable, but you'll be preparing very dilligently

yeah. i mean i've been working with CISCO gear for about 6 years now . . . so I'm imagining the CCNA should take me about 2 weeks. the job start date is aug 14th pending background check, urine, etc . . . the guy said it'll take 2 weeks to get it all done and get laptop, cellphone, etc . . . (i've seen this be done alot sooner).
also i'm worried because i have other pending offers.
so i'm hoping with about 2-3 hrs study a day i can wing the CCNA before my start date. the CCNP they said they'll provide all the mentoring lab equipment and documentation for it. 7/28/2006 10:56:44 PM |

Of course, anything is possible.
The question you'll have to decide is whether or not you're prepared to invest more time into studying networking material after you come home from a 8-10 hour day of work. That's been the toughest part for me... finding the motivation.
Follow your plan, study for 2 weeks and take the ccna.
There's a shit-ton of material on the CCNP, especially the BSCI. Good luck! 7/29/2006 12:00:29 AM |

It took me 6 months while working in a lax job as a cisco intern... with access to any equipment and lab setups I needed... And working on the equipment every day.
That said, I definately did not study for 3 hours every day, so maybe 90 days is possible. 7/29/2006 7:41:58 AM |

I completed my CCNP in a bit over 60 days, so yes, it is doable.
As cdubya indicated, the issue is motivation after a long workday. Best of luck. 7/29/2006 11:50:39 AM |

i code 12-16 hours a day.
if you work 8 hours a day, it's doable in 90 days.
study study study. 8/8/2006 3:01:24 AM |
