Worth the extra price? I'm gonna go ahead and say yes, for me, it is. I wish there was a cheaper one that came with a DVD burner, but oh well.

according to parents who work for Lenovo and who come in to the bookstore to get a computer for their kid, the discount we offer on the models is much better than the discount they get just by being an employee. i've had several parents tell me that which i was surprised about. also, if you get a thinkpad through the bookstore we do any service and support on the laptop if it breaks. if we cant fix it in-house we send it out to the service center to be fixed and then you get a loaner laptop from us. however, that only applies to the laptops purchased through the bookstore. 7/31/2006 9:01:36 AM |

My dad worked for IBM and is now with Lenovo.
The NCSU Bookstore's price usually, if not always, beats the employee's price. I bought my T40p 3 years ago from the bookstore, and when I did the math, employee price was 12% to 15% off, while the bookstore was close to 30% off.

IBM/Lenovo employees do NOT get the discount you'd think they would. You're better off utilizing the school contract price. 7/31/2006 11:23:13 PM |
