or possibly if you'd be willing to just chin sit for a year. My good friend is moving to China to study abroad for a year and her mother refuses to take care of her chins. One male mosaic, Clancy (very fat!) and one female black velvet, Rose (900grams). Rose is currently on Baytril and recovering from mites, but will be good to go soon. Both love to be let out to play and will come to you for treats, but as with most chins do not appreciate cuddling. Clancy looooves to be groomed with the brush and will cuddle during that. Chins come with cage and everything they could possibly ever need and more. Asking $200 for everything. They're in Atlanta, but I can have my parents railroad them up to Wilmington or Raleigh.

^^They go as a pair only. They've lived together their entire lives. Most likely he's sterile.

^Over a hundred, and it'd cost you way more than it's worth.

^No. Even if I wanted to it's too hot for them. Come on people, realistic responses please. We really need to find these two a loving home.

I would try posting on craigslist or in chinchilla forums online. I would take these two but I already have one chinchilla, three would just be too many.

btw, chinchillas make great pets. Just not cuddly pets. And most have awesome personalities.

Well, jesus, Lutra, it's not like they're going to be together forever, I'm making an honest offer.

and you don't want to split them up either. I bought a chin after months of research and had to return it to petsmart because the poor little guy was bored out of his mind and depressed to be all alone but I couldn't afford two at the time. Some chins fair okay living alone but most are very sociable and taking two apart that were raised together would be a mistake.

Firm, these animals are very intelligent and get attached to those they have spent alot of time with. If they have only been with each other and their owners for years, then splitting them and introducing them to other chinchillas might make them emotionally unstable. It really depends on the animal and its personallity, though.

Also, triple. From what Ive seen, chinchillas who have a pleasant disposition(not ill-tempered) dont bite unless provoked. They nibble slightly like all rodents do, but shouldnt be very hard. Less than what a hamster might(those guys hurt). So unless these are mean ones, they shouldnt hurt anyone. Oh, and they do need toys or things bought for them to chew on, so their teeth can be worn down and they stay healthy. So they might accidentally bite you if you get in their way of their toys, but generally not.

^I'd be more worried about a female spraying you than one biting you.

will my cats eat them? I have kittens right now and they're about 4 pounds each. Would they grow to like the chins or grow to hate them and want to make them dinner?

Spraying lutra? I have not heard that about chinchillas. Ive not heard any animal besides a skunk do that. Do they do it often or only if they get scared? Is the effect as bad as a skunks or is it just annoying?
