Good Ole Tippecanoe. He had a bad heart, and a bad choice of vice president.

AND TYLER, TOO!

His best hope now is to be a forgettable president. If he's remembered for anything, it'll be expansion of presidential powers, unlawful treatment of detainees, and getting screwing up Iraq.

I self-identify most closely with paleoconservatives. Bush is what I and many others refer to as a neoconservative. His record shows that he doesn't understand how to cut spending, he has a very poor record on environmental protection, he unwaveringly supports Israel, he seems to be pro-big government/big-brother, and he is an aggressor in Iraq and perhaps, soon, other countries for what I see to be no *good* reason.

I love my guns and I strongly oppose abortion. However, these beliefs do not overpower my dislike for the president for the above-mentioned reasons. That being said, I’m also not going to vote for someone who would implement stricter rules on my firearms and perpetuate legal abortion (among other things that I’m against). So, I’m left with write-ins. *sigh*

My vote would mean nothing if I voted for someone that I didn't believe in.

^^ my point is that unless you vote for a rep or a dem, you might as well just stay home on election day..

one day it might change... but i doubt anytime soon... good luck though

All that bush has shown, is that the president is powerless and his party holds the real iron fist.

Yah, they've done a pretty good job planning ahead in the future :/

[no], the fact we're a capitalist system is why it's true. Politics functions like a market -- if a 3rd party ever came up with a decent idea big enough to win elections, the idea would be absorbed by Republicans or Democrats.

The fact most 3rd parties are batshit crazy doesn't help either...

^ Hey now! Ross Perot.....oh wait

My only hope for the future is that my grand childrens' text books will show Bush for the abomination of a president that he truly is. Thank God/Allah/Buddha for two term limits. But then again I am just some kind of pansy, liberal, pinko-commie.

Ross Perot had it in his hands to make a third party viable until he quit in the '92 campaign. By the time he decided that he didn't want to quit anymore, his poll numbers had dropped considerably.

Perot could have meant huge things to this country, but pussed out. I mean, he was a whack-job, but he could have been a history-making whack-job instead of a footnote.

Yep. Has nothing to do with those matching public funds available to the two major parties and no others at all...nosireebob.

^ This is true. I would vote for a rep who wasn't retarded and followed most of my political beliefs and I would even vote for a dem who followed the same criteria (although it's not likely one would run).

^^Why? Why would anyone say he was a great president? What has he really done for this country? Cut taxes while spending more money? Gotten into a war(justified or not) that we have no way out of? Damaged our standing in the international community? Managed to get people to equate people working 80 hour weeks with 3 minimum wage jobs as "economic growth?" Appointed a hack to head up FEMA?

Show me where the great is. Please.

how long were we involved in combat in WWII vs. the length of time in Iraq? And what were the tangible results vs. Iraq? Iraq is overall worse off than it was before we came in.

There were presidents who were unfairly hated or not credited enough for their accomplishments.

Nixon comes to mind.

Bush is not one of them.

^^How could I forget the Katrina response?!? Edited.

you know exactly what people thought of presidents 50 or 60 years ago and you also know exactly how people who wont be born for another 30 years will view bush just because you personally have been around during bush's terms

George is really good at overly dramatic acts.

For example, he interrupted his vacation to show his support for not pulling the plug on a brain-dead woman.

The only way the city of New Orleans would have had a chance was if it had a feeding tube.

Oh, and he can stand in front of signs like a champ. I can see how history is really going to judge him to be among the greats.

I AGREE COMPLETELY

he figured out that you attack the group of people that attacks you.....and for figuring that out, he'll be remember as at least not the worst president ever.
