Part of me wants to believe that he was sabotaged. He was quoted as saying he thought the race was over and that he lost first place for good. So if he thought he has lost it for sure why take the drugs? BUT if he was so sure he lost it already why go balls to the wall and try to win the stage? 8/5/2006 11:23:53 AM |

lets think about something....
landis was tested regularly thoughout the race, all came back completely clean
then after the race is over, he test first 4:1 and then 11:1 for testosterone
yall might want to look into what testosterone doping requires. it takes multiple weeks of building up, small amounts at a time, to get to a testosterone level that high.
keep in mind that the testing agency is french based and is completely closed to outside scrutiny
now im not sayin there is a french-based conspiracy or any garbage like that, rather, it is just ridiculous that the media, espn, etc are condemning him without understanding the background of testosterone doping
yea....makes complete sense to think that he is completely guilty 8/6/2006 10:51:02 AM |

maybe you might want to look into what testosterone usage entails, because you are so far off it's laughable. he never tested 4:1 at first; it just wasn't disclosed. everyone knew he tested OVER 4:1 because that's the ratio cutoff for a failed test.
testosterone doping doesn't take an extended period of time to occur either. DMSO based cream products like androgel can enter the bloodstream in minutes and shut down testicular function. the testosterone levels never build up higher than normal, but epitestosterone production shuts down and within a day or two will have the test to epitest ratio way out of normal. a 10:1 or worse ratio could easily be seen after using HRT dosages of androgel for 2 days.
you can make all the claims you want about how taking testosterone during a race would hinder a rider, but all you have to look at are the race results for the stage he tested positive at and realize something must have helped him out.

it doesn't matter if one day would have an affect or not. no one is questioning whether his choice to violate a drug test put him at an advantage. if he was blood doping with blood he collected 2 months prior to the race while he also just so happened to be taking testosterone, then it could have had a dramatic impact on his racing performance. Blood doping is a very effective means of gaining a competitive advantage, and maybe he didn't have the medical comprehension or forethought to realize that his doped blood would contain synthetic testosterone in it at levels that would botch up his epitestosterone production. 8/7/2006 11:05:25 AM |

I'm questioning it you dipshit. It's just a question for your "i spend way too much time on drug sites and I am an expert" elitist attitude and I figured you'd be qualified to answer it. I'll state it again for you.
If he hadn't done shit up to that point, would one day worth of anything help.

actually, if you could gather anything from what occurred with the long distance skiers who got busted at the olympics this year, a lot of these guys are performing blood transfusions with no medical supervision whatsoever. If you are trying to imply from baseball that BALCO and anti-aging clinics constitute a team of trusted doctors, then you are sorely mistaken. Anti-aging clinics don't even consult with their clients in person, and BALCO also employed doctors that wrote ghost-scripts without ever meeting the person they were prescribing drugs to.
Baseball players aren't blood-doping either; steroids, growth hormone, and stimulants are the extent of substances they will abuse. Blood doping is a lot more dangerous than injecting a small amount of a medical grade product in your body or ingesting a pharmaceutical grade pill.
Quote : | "If he hadn't done shit up to that point, would one day worth of anything help. " |
blood doping the day before stage 17 would have given him elevated RBC levels through the rest of the tour and most definitely would have been a clear advantage. having testosterone in his body would also help later on, as long as he did something to prevent his testosterone levels from falling off afterwards. This is all contingent on him taking doped blood and not on him merely taking testosterone.
