if this were any other race or any other person was leading, they wouldn't have shown Jimmie Johnson all by himself for 8 laps. If it was one of any 40 other drivers leading they would have shown some guys back in the field.

But no, it was Jimmie Johnson, and NBC had t gay it up like they always do and tell the leader's life story once they know he's going to win. And everytime there's a Hendrick car in the spotlight they make a point in bringing up the plane crash.

And because they were focused on Johnson the whole time, no one's paying attention to Kasey Kahne running into the wall or the dude getting some air time after running over Kahne's engine. There was another crash in addition to Kahne's but I don't remember who it was or if it was even before or after Kahne's crash. And they don't even throw the caution till Johnson crosses the finish line half a lap later. I realize the track is huge and it was the end of the race but if it was anyone else and Jeff Gordon or Jimmy Johnson were 2nd with the ability to win with more time, that caution would have been thrown before the race ended.

The media and corporate bias is ridiculous

It's always funny how when Jimmie and Jeff have problems, a caution always waves. Many times, it's for debris, which is never shown or talked about.

NBC:
Nothing
But
Commercials.

v Yeah, I know, and that is a good thing.

Did they ever show another shot of Raines running over whatever fell out of Kahne's car other than the roof cam? That was much more interesting than Jimmie Johnson checking the duct tape on his fender and getting drinks thrown at his car.

Jeff complains about debris on the radio all the time to his crew and complains about how NASCAR needs to throw a caution to clean it up b/c it's affecting his car

and then when you switch to the NASCAR frequency you hear "the 24's complaining about some debris on the race track...someone go see if you can see what he's talkng about..."

someone really missed their opportunity to hit him with a beer there

someone threw one before he backed up

and then someone threw one after he got back int he car to drive off

and he backed up and got out to get the checkered flag he dropped

i loved knaus's comment about a race shop full of adult toys....all i could think about was dildos and butt plugs....also i liked how the caution banner was shown on the tv but not thrown on the track....wtf was that all about??

NBC mistakenly assumed that NASCAR would throw a caution just because there were two distinct incidents featuring large amounts of debris.

so back to the question....why wasnt it thrown??....because it didnt affect the winner...well it sure as hell affected the results back through the pack...

^^ That's what NASCAR always does...unless it's the last lap.

when the caustion comes out the field is frozen...so they had to let the 48 win before they froze it.....that fucked up a lot of peoples positions towards the rear

if they threw the caution, then they'd have to do extra laps

instead they just let Jimmie win because it was obvious he was going to win

and i guess it helped kasey kahne not lose more than 4 positions in the points race since they froze the field once he crossed the start/finish line

NASCAR is such a joke these days.

That has not so much to do with this specific caution situation as it has to do with everything else.

so fucking what....run the extra laps....they should have not implemeted the GWC if they dont use it all the time...if johnson would have spun out and wrecked would have they thrown it then????...yes

NASCAR's caution policy works two ways.

1.) They'll throw it for anything in the middle of a race. Jacques Debris in turn 3, a raindrop, a puff of smoke, someone brushes the wall, Jeff Gordon can utilize the Lucky Dog Rule (okay, does anyone else think it moronic when a guy can be 4 laps down early and it's not a big deal?), Tony Eury Jr. looks at Mike Helton cross-eyed...

2.) On the last lap, a car could jump the fence and go into the crowd and they would not throw the caution until the winner crosses the finish line. (Call this the "Gordon vs. Junior at Talledega Rule")

they will only throw it on the last lap if it affects the winner....thats BS.....if it affects people back in the field than they still need to thrown it.....there is more racing going on in the back than the front....this is the bullshit that could affect somebody getting in/not getting in the chase by just a few points....

^ I understand what you're saying, but you're under the assumption that NASCAR operate under clear principles that will always be enforced. NASCAR has not done that for a long time. They're not the FIA.

no they wouldn't. they DID throw the yellow, along with the checkered. IF the wreck had occured on the 2nd to last lap they would have used the g-w-c finish.

^Exactly. When that wreck happened, it didnt matter when the caution was thrown, Johnson had won the race. If the caution came out as soon as the wreck happened, Johnson wins.

Not true, Ive seen many times where a small wreck happened at the back of the pack, perhaps in turn 2 when the leaders are on the backstretch, and they will throw the caution, resulting in a typical NASCAR non-finish. Maybe its safer to not race back to the line, but we need to have a proper finish too...this frozen field crap is worse than a race finishing under caution.

^ I have too, but I was referencing the "Gordon vs. Junior at Talledega" finish on why most of the time they just let the race continue until the winner crosses the line instead of field-freezing. It's not all the time but more often than not.

If they throw the caution once the white flag is out, the race is over

kasey wrecked after the first wreck happened.

since they didn't freeze the field, Kasey lost 5 positions in the points.

if playing baseball, basketball, or football were essential to your daily routine, then people would say they weren't sports

everyone drives everyday and that's why people perceive NASCAR the way they do
