curious to hear your views on global warming...I have one of my degrees in natural resources with a marine and coastal concentration but for some reason all the poly sci and history majors think they know more about global warming
because automatically people assume i get all my information from "scientists in the oil companies' pockets" instead of "professors at State with PhD's in marine and atmospheric sciences"

Well, you know my take on it. I am completely fine with global warming being part of natural cycles if it is caused by natural processes. My grief is with the seemingly complacent who don't want to be responsible for the amounts of greenhouse gases and pollutants that humans pump into the atmosphere and oceans thinking that there will not be any prolonged effects. I'll take environment > humankind anyday.
It's easy to get lost in the idea that correlation = causation but you all are smart enough to know that isn't true. So jumping on any bandwagon is a bit premature and anyone who only uses the past two or three decades to try and prove global warming is happening is just plain silly. But at the same time we can not allow ourselves to think that we, as humans, are somehow above effecting our planet in dire ways. 8/9/2006 7:13:03 PM |

how do you make a hummer?
where do you get gasoline to power the hummer?
what do you have the ability to drive your hummer through?
in some way, shape, or form it all goes back to the environment
but without people, there'd be no hummer in the first place, no gasoline to drive the hummer, and no exploration of the forest 8/10/2006 7:35:30 AM |
