I just moved to Ivy Chase and I can't get Time Warner(prob a good thing), but I was wondering what are some opinions on what tv/satellite service I should get? 8/10/2006 10:26:02 PM |

MediaWorks fucking sucks. I don't know if that's who they have still, but goddamn no single company has pissed me off more than them.
I'm a diehard fan of DirecTV. My family has had their service since they came out, and have stuck with them. They have excellent customer service, and you can get a Tivo DVR that is integrated directly into their satellite receivers.
I don't know too much about the Dish Network. A friend of mine has it, the picture is fine, but he has told me that customer service is nonexistant, and it's almost impossible to get them to fix any billing errors, etc. He has a DVR, which I'm sure works fine, I just didn't find it as intuitive as the Tivos (I'm highly biased though towards Tivo).
I know DirecTV is slightly more expensive than the Dish Network, but I've been so extremely happy with DirecTV and their service (as well as customer support), that I have never even though about changing. 8/10/2006 10:33:57 PM |

go with DirecTV. Way better than TWC. Turner South (Braves baseball) & ESPNU (state games) is included in a standard package if either of those matter to you. If you just want basic service, Dish is okay b/c it is alittle cheaper, but DirecTV is better otherwise (more options, channels, & better service). 8/10/2006 11:11:33 PM |

^ yea they don't...I just called them
^^ at this point my alternative is Directv, because Dish Network's satelite couldn't be reached from my balcony. We will see if Directv will be able to hook us up. I live on the opposite side of the satelite signal but apparently Directv has more satelites in their system.
Our package is the 44.99 package which includes pretty much standard cable (including ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNNews, etc) plus 9.99 after the first 4 months for HD....We will probably also end up adding their sports package which includes ESPN-U and all of the college sports stations)
What building does your gf live in?
By the way that includes locals in HD as well
