HAH i heard a story today in EKG training about this 95 year old woman who was a DNR.

ok so she was about to die.........her heart rate was about 20 beats per minute with 4 breaths per minute............she stayed like this for a good half an hour -- the house supervisor had been called in to pronounce her since they expected her to expire any minute now. Family has also been notified of her impending demise.


then all of a sudden the CNA walks by and hears the patient take this huge gulp of air, heart rate climbs to above 60 and she sits up in bed and starts talking. Family arrives about now as well and they are all like, thought you said she was about to go.


Apparently either her guardian angel woke up, or she herself sucker punched the grim reaper. She spent the day with her family and expired the next day............house supervisor was again called in to pronounce her..............house supervisor said : lets let her lay there for an hour or so just to make sure she is really dead this time.


I mean cuz you cant be freakin out the morgue workers like that.
