So, the last two days while I have been at work my computer has started to ring. On the hour and half hour it has bells like church bells. I don't know what I have downloaded that will do this. Any thoughts?
Thanks! 8/17/2006 1:44:33 PM |

this might sound weird - but has your computer been blessed or had holy water sprinkled on it 8/17/2006 1:46:26 PM |

possibly could be a heat alarm -- mine does similar when it starts to get too hot inside 8/17/2006 1:46:56 PM |

Just Active Security Monitor is the only thing I can think of... It has been a while though. 8/17/2006 1:58:18 PM |

If it sounds like an alarm, which is basically a high pitched two toned sound that's bad. That's a heat alarm. It probably means one of your fans quit. Open your case and turn it on. Look for any non moving fans. Also just feel the side of the case for excessive heat.
Unless you have a SUPER BEEF (X800XT... 7900GT etc) your case should not be very hot if your fans are all working.
If it's just hot anyway you might need another fan or 2 ($10 each for good ones). 8/17/2006 2:27:14 PM |

Analyze the computer as you would a car, isolate where the noise is coming from using whatever method you prefer (I like wooden sticks myself). 8/17/2006 6:33:02 PM |

Is it coming from your computer?
or from your speakers?
if it is your computer it is probably heat.
If it is speakers you probably downloaded some spyware while looking at porn. 8/17/2006 8:45:04 PM |
