uhm, there are a number of cars around that would beat up on that 328is. I've been SPANKED BIG TIME by a 3000GT VR4 in my supercharged/aftercooled S2000, and a C5 Vette reeled me in (not spectacularly, but he was definitely faster) one time driving my turbo Miata (which I suspect would've been very comparable to the 3-series in question, at least through the 1/4 or a little more).

i mean, i've dealt a lot more beatings than i've taken in those two cars, but it's not like I'm totally taken aback if I encounter something faster. what do you figure that 328 would run? mid-to-high 12s? 12-second daily drivers aren't that unusual.

that isn't to say that a 380whp 328is wouldn't be fast. No doubt it's fast. It just isn't the end-all, or anything close to it.

a turbocharged I-6 pushing close to 400whp on 245/40/17s isn't meant for drag racing. drag racing is more about being quick than being fast. im sure you can find some bolt-on evos doing high 11s. put them on few highway pulls with this car and they'll be 5+ car lengths behind.

being some 50whp behind the new Z06 and within similar weight, id say this car is very fast and most probably faster than anything you might encounter on streets just driving around year round.

hell i drive 28000 miles per year, non stop up and down 95 to nyc/philly/dc and from high hp cars on the streets, i've seen maybe two Z06s, few stock vipers and thats about it.

..but yeah there will always be something faster...im just saying you are not LIKELY to see it as often one might think. anyhow it is fairly retarted to talk about whether 380whp turbo bmw is fast.

highway pulls are teh equilizer for many cars against something that has little to no traction out of the hole or for the driver who can't launch

yeah, my car sucks donkey dick off the line, compared to how strong it is on a highway pull. i'm fully familier with what it's like to have a car that's fast around a circuit but not a great drag racer.

i'm just saying that no doubt it's fast...no doubt it's retarded to argue otherwise. however, there are plenty of cars that are as fast or faster. there are a handful of stock cars that are faster, and there are a number of modified cars that would pull away from it.

yeah, AWD cars have slightly quicker E.T.s due to their ability to launch, but that BMW isn't gonna put 5 lengths on something that's a FULL SECOND quicker in the quarter.

and there are very few high-11 EVOs with nothing but bolt-ons. it's been done, but it's unusual.

i don't know if it would beat it from a roll. SVs run what, low-to-mid 12s? and have you ever tried to drag race a motorcycle? it's pretty tough to get the numbers the magazines do (or at least it was in my experience, but that bike had a very grabby aftermarket clutch).
