i like how they've really pursued the atmospheric approach...obviously that's what they're about but now it's so chill, what the calmer APC could have been. and i must say, i don't mind the new vocal approach either

I do not have the album, but having heard it, let me say that it kills.
there is a large usage of djembe throughout the album.
**
I also hear a lot of tool and soundgarden throughout this album.
the only thing that sucks is down tempo stuff is going to be the next metalcore. I am simply awaiting the onslaught of imitators.

I haven't heard all of giants stuff, only the stuff online, seen them a few times live. I like it for what it is, but in the back of my mind all I can think is isis does it much better.
I'll still wear their shirt though haha.
also, the new isis has some mogwai ish parts I feel. well only 1 that jumps out at me, but still 8/31/2006 7:00:03 PM |

Personally, I thought Panopticon was Isis' best effort to date. So I hope they continue to progress in this direction.
Giant is excellent too, however, I don't have a choice here because I'm friends with the dudes. So I'm a bit jaded with this band.

yeah dude
I really like a few of giant's songs.
once they release something else I think I'll have a better impression as to what they are all about.
tried to get them to play in raleigh a few times, but to no avail. 8/31/2006 11:32:51 PM |

Just listened to it.
I thought it was great.
Sounded a little like Red Sparowes at times, but then again, one of the members from Isis is in Red Sparowes. 9/6/2006 11:45:56 PM |
